"That's good. I would hate to be the other woman, or worse, get homewrecker accusations." She isn't sure what the true nature of their relationship is, but it never hurts to tease. Especially when Jinyoung reminds her of both her younger brothers. If not for the laws of etiquette, she would have pinched Jinyoung's cheeks like a child. But alas, she settles for smirking at him from the other side of the table.

"It means you're going places, then," she says. "It's always better to be wanted and busy than to be idle and not being booked for any jobs." That's always what she tells herself when she finds herself overwhelmed by all that she has to do. At least she's not rotting away in the company dorms and practice rooms.

"I saw the photos," she says wistfully. "But I think Jinseo didn't stop working even when he has in Milan... All those perfume shopping trips and all. He didn't even show off any toursity shit." Chuckling, Soyoun shakes her head. "To be fair, we hardly have time to see the sights when we're on tour, unless we're lucky and can film vlogs and stuff..." Waving a hand aside, she turns to more cheerful topics. "So, what have you been working on lately, Jinyoungie?"

soyoun was a delight to have as company. there was something sophisticated about her that reminded jinyoung of his mother with a kindness that he wished reminded him of his mother. mayhaps that was a weird comparison or even compliment to give but in jinyoung's mind it truly was a soothing and welcome experience.

"ah... nuna...," he responds to her jest, lowering his eyes with a shy chuckle and smile. jinyoung didn't know, never asked if jaehwa told soyoun about the nature of their 'friendship' but he trusted them so it didn't matter much. "of course she knows," he ends up revealing. there was no reason for secrecy between them after all.

turning to the waiter he places his own order and then leans back to sit cross legged, making himself slightly more comfortable. "well- same old, really. I seem to be getting a lot more offers. it's nice that the company lets me have so much freedom to pick and choose what I would like to do. me and jinseo hyung went to milan a little while ago. I was a little sad he got to stay there and I had to come back," the model narrates, a small pout on his lips.

Home Renovation 101

Soyoun doesn't hesitate to say "yes" when Cherry invites her over to her new place. Armed with a painting and some other housewarming gifts, Soyoun heads over to the address Cherry gave. Keeping in mind what Cherry said about the place needing some life, Soyoun decides to help breathe some life into Cherry's new place. Humming to herself, Soyoun breathes a sigh of relief when she gets to the place.

"Congratulations on the new place," Soyoun says as she hands Cherry the painting and the other housewarming gifts she brought. Gesturing to the paint and other things in her magic box, she then fidgets, suddenly wondering if her enthusiasm might be too much. "I uh... remembered what you said about wanting some help decorating your place, so I brought some paint I have as well as some furnishings that you might like?"

With some free time between their schedules, Soyoun agrees to meet with Jinyoung for a meal. It would be nice to catch up with him regarding his brand. A lot has happened since they last spoke, and it seems like Jinyoung's brand is doing well.

Laughing, Soyoun takes the seat across Jinyoung. "Of course," she says, nodding in approval of his manners. "I wasn't going to say 'no' to food." Snorting, she gestures for Jinyoung to look at the menu. "Does Jaehwa know you're seeing me?" She's aware that their main vocal and the model in front of her are good friends, but it never hurts to tease; especially when they would look so cute together.

"Yes, please, but only if you're also getting something for yourself," she says with a laugh. Settling on a black sesame latte, she turns to Jinyoung, "Now, tell me what you've been up to lately."

jinyoung was thankful the woman found time in her busy schedule to meet him. after all she'd done to help him accomplish his brand, the model felt like a formal thank you was long overdue. so renting a private room in a first class restaurant in the center of gangnam was truly the least he could do.

"thank you so much for finding the time to meet me, nuna," he greets her as she is lead into the room, raising to his feet only to bow his head respectfully. he may be more of a modern and western guy but he knew when to use the manners his parents had hired a private teacher for to pass onto him.

"please, have a seat. would you like to drink something?" gesturing for their waiter to stay put for now and anticipate her response.

DAEBAK SHIDAE ANNOUNCES POST ENLISTMENT PLANS; TO SET UP THEIR OWN AGENCY

Finally, the countdown to popular idol group, DAEBAK SHIDAE, military enlistment's completion has begun! Back in 2023 the 6 members of the group enlisted at the same time, and their hiatus has since then left a void felt throughout the industry. For several months now, the public and industry insiders alike have been very interested in the group's future.

Today, on APRIL 1, a LEGACY entertainment spokesperson has confirmed that the 6 members of the group would not renew their contract with the company. but do not fret; the company and the group's ties will not be broken! It has been announced that CHOI DAEHYUN will set up a new SUB-LABEL under the company where the group and the 5 other members will be moved! This new sub-label, named USGEN ENTERTAINMENT, is set to function similarly to LGC Agency.

USGEN ENT.'s has been set up by DBSD with the goal of supporting its talents into setting today's trends artistically. With this in mind, the label has also revealed to be working on a successor to DBSD to be introduced to the public through the project NEWKIDS NEWDREAMS.

We look forward to future updates and news of USGEN ENT., DBSD and NKND.

when she can manage it, areum finally manages to drop off a gift to her friends. with permission, she leaves a small box wrapped in colorful furoshiki at the crystallis dorms, with a tag wrapped around the knot at the top that reads ’ soyoun ’ in areum’s careful handwriting. inside is a small, blue lucky cat keychain atop a plethora of different japanese sweets and candies. atop everything sits an envelope with a postcard inside. some individual stickers fall out of the envelope. the following is written on the back of the postcard:

while in japan, i wanted to bring back some sweets for you to try !! plus, a good luck charm that offers harmony, peace, and happiness for the new year ! i can’t thank you enough for all you’ve done for me this past year, i hope i can pay back the favor in 2024. please take good care of yourself this year ~

When Soyoun returns from the Love Mini Fes event, the first thing she notices is a beautifully wrapped package with her name on it. It’s been a while since she’s received a package wrapped like this outside Japan. After gently opening the package, Soyoun first picks up the card. She can’t help the small smile that forms on her lips as she reads the message from Areum. She tries not to get teary-eyed as she gets overwhelmed by all the love she has received from her members, the fans, and now a trainee she mentored.

She picks up the items Areum mentioned. She immediately takes the keychain and attaches it to her work bag. She takes a photo to show it off to Areum. She can’t wait for Areum to see it both from her and from fansite photos. She looks at Areum’s choice of snacks and nods in approval. These are so going into her snack stash. How did Areum know what snacks she likes? As for the Sailor Jupiter-inspired stickers? They are definitely going to her sketches and other things. 

She takes photos of everything and sends them all to Areum. 

“Areum! I got your gift. How did you know which snacks I like? And I’m taking the keychain with me to work every day! I like to think that I’m taking you with me through the keychain. Tell me when you’re free so I can give you your present.”

Soyoun wonders whether this can be something in their future, too. Her yapping while Daeho hopefully patiently listens to every word she says. It's nice to have something like this. To have someone she's comfortable with, even if she isn't sure whether he likes her the way she likes him. But Soyoun will take what she can get, especially when their careers are still so new and so fragile. They both can't afford to get caught by the media in this stage of their career. Besides, it's still too new and too undefined to tell the company anything. She's not even sure if her feelings are requited, for fuck's sake.

She feels her energy coming back to her as she answers Daeho's questions. "Yeah, apparently, it's like if Tom Holland and Zendaya broke up, or maybe if Hyeri sunbaenim and Ryu Junyeol sunbaenim were to break up." She thinks of how long those couples have been together for so long. She shakes her head. "It's not a rumor. The world apparently stopped in the Philippines when the girl posted her statement confirming that they broke up." Ugh. She left her phone in the dressing room. But now Daeho mentioned rumors, Soyoun smirks. "But do you want the rumors though?" She leans even closer to Daeho so no one else can hear them. She stands on the tips of her toes to reach his ear. "They say that the guy has been cheating on her with multiple women. The latest one was a young star who played his younger sister TWICE."

catching soyoun was probably the first time he ever touch her like that, the thought of it made him blush but thankfully he was able to collect himself to make sure that he wasn't caught with 'too much blush' on. taking a step back leaving a respectable space between the two of them, daeho waited for her to speak. it as if she was in a pretty big hurry and hopefully he didn't catch her at such a bad time.

a sigh of relief escape from between his lips once she had confirm that she was alright. thank goodness because if he had too he would carry her to the closest hospital if needed. her question made him thinking for a moment, rubbing his chin as he tried to remember "i think i do. what about them?" he ask curiously as if he missed something. blinking his eyes, he couldn't make the words that she just said. "what?!" he said in shock. "really? were they like a famous couple?" daeho asking trying to remember who it was that sitting behind crystallis "wouldn't it be a rumor though? they're still interacting even though they broke up?" that he must admit was very professional for them.

Soyoun returns home to the dorm after all their schedules are done, and her eyes grow wide at the parcel on her bed. As she inspects the package, she does what any sensible person who has heard too many stories of creepy stalker fans would do. She gently shakes it, sniffs at it like a dog, and squints her eyes at it before she finally sees the waybill attached to the box. Laughing to herself, she shakes her head as she realizes who would deliver a Christmas present this way. 

Once she deems the package safe, she carefully opens it. Once she does, her jaw drops when she sees what’s inside. She had been eyeing some of these earrings for a while, and she never had the time to actually get them for herself. She’s definitely wearing these to one of their schedules. They also work well with the earrings she already has, so mixing them up shouldn’t be a problem for her. Smiling to herself, she takes a photo of the gifts and sends them to Yuxi to thank her. “Dang, now I really hope you’ll like my gift.”

I Love You, I Want You

Soyoun has to admit; some of these fans rival her in terms of being creative with their poses. Some of these are what she would have done with DBSD's Siwoo if she wasn't a junior idol in his company. However, she's also glad she's a K-Pop fan, as she has an idea of what poses the fans would want to do with her.

This fan that comes up to her next is a high school boy, clearly out of his depth. Unlike the usual perverts who feel obliged to her attention, this boy seems like he's afraid she'll bite his head off if he dares to take another step closer.

"Come on, I don't bite," Soyoun says with a laugh as she gestures for the boy to come closer. She's relieved for the no-touching rule, because she hates to imagine what some creepier fans would have done. She tries not to glare at that fan who came before this poor kid. That creep almost tried reaching for her butt if not for her quick reflexes and security's quick action.

But this poor kid? He might as well have bound his hands to whatever he was holding in front of him.

The poor boy stutters out a compliment about how he's been a long time fan and that he's been her supporter since Future Dreams S2. He also squeaks out that he's a visual arts student, finally showing her what he had in his hands. It's a small oil-painting of Soyoun's debut era teasers.

"No way. This is beautiful… May I have it?" Soyoun whispers, trying her best not to cry. Once upon a time, it was she doing paintings of her idols. Now, it's fans doing paintings of her?

Unfortunately, the fan teases her that she can't have it just yet as it has yet to be graded. Laughing, Soyoun almost puts an arm around him until she remembers the no-touching rule. However, the fan has a brilliant idea instead.

"You want me to pat you on the head like a dog?" Soyoun cackles out loud. Oh what a picture they would make. This kid is at least a head taller than she is, but even when she's already in heels. But okay. She sees the humor in the situation and she supposes it would be harmless enough to do.

They somehow make it work with the kid kneeling down and Soyoun putting her hand above his head. They both have a good laugh at the photo as they review it. Soyoun then wishes the kid all the best of luck with his school work. "I expect to see a painting from you among the fan gifts some day," she jokes as the fan promises to send her a much more beautiful one.

Chuckling, Soyoun looks at the audience, who are likely a mix of amused and embarrassed at the members' varying range of game skills. Soyoun herself isn't exactly the one good at games that aren't otome games, but she's trying her best. It's all in good fun, so she doesn't find herself as self-conscious as she normally would be when doing something outside her wheelhouse.

When Jaehwa's called on for her turn, Soyoun then shouts, "Let's go, Jasmine!" To her relief the audience picks up on it and starts cheering Jaehwa on. She encourages the audience to cheer louder, knowing how nervous Jaehwa is going into this game. "Win it for the fans, Jasmine! But no pressure!" With Jaehwa's turn, it will be her turn again in a while. She supposes she can pick up a thing or two. She leans back and watches as Jaehwa starts playing.

jaehwa had never been particularly lucky when it came to games like this. however, she believed her competitiveness might give her an edge—if only she could be quicker. "i hope so," she sighed, clasping her cheeks from both sides as she observed the others playing. as her turn approached, she felt butterflies fluttering in her stomach. she couldn't believe she was getting nervous over a game.

the music from the machine came to an end, signaling that her turn was up next. jaehwa stepped in front of the machine, both hands gripping the handle tightly, her gaze fixed on the game. "fighting, jasmine! you can do it!" cheers echoed from below the stage and she returned them with a smile. the fans always had a way of calming her nerves. "please, let me win this!" she whispered a prayer before turning to soyoun. "we'll see if luck's on my side today. here goes nothing!" with her attention fully focused on the game, she raised the hammer high, ready to begin.

Episode 3: Sketches

ASTRID’S ATELIER EPISODE 3: Sketches

Soyoun knows that today's video will be both one of the most interesting and labor-intensive for her as well as one of the hardest to explain to the viewers who aren't fashion students.

"Welcome to yet another episode of Astrid's Atelier!" She waves to the audiences. Zooming out, the viewers see that she's sitting in front of her desk with all her art materials out, as well as some fabric samples.

"As you see in the title, the next step in the fashion design process will be sketches!" Gesturing to her desk, Soyoun smiles as she anticipates the work she'll be doing for this. She purposely didn't work on this project so that the viewers will see how she does it in real-time (as well as see how much effort and time designers put into sketching the perfect outfit).

"Now we've done ideating and moodboarding, the next step is to actually sketch a tangible design." Soyoun already stretches her arms, knowing that she'll be doing this a lot. Thankfully, they have a free day today. She props up her sketchpad for the cameras and picks up her favorite pencil.

"Like I said, sketches are meant to present an idea in a tangible form. It's the barebones of the overall outfit, see?" Soyoun then flips to her previous sketches of other designs. "They can communicate the technical elements of an idea, including darts and seams, sleeve length, overall length, fit, shape, and more. I'll be using them as a blueprint for the first prototype."

This is going to be a long few hours of sketching. With her materials and ideas in tow, Soyoun knows she'll lose herself in her sketching, so she gets all the talking done out of the way. "You can sketch the traditional way, like I will be doing for this video." She then lifts her pencil, tapping it against a fresh page. "But other projects call for more digital means. And with that, let's get sketching! It's time to bring this vision to life!"

Just as Soyoun predicted, she loses herself in the world of futuristic fantasies with a touch of whimsy, because that's who she is. She imagines her muse as a game character who is meant to save the world. Yet, she keeps her heroine's outfit practical and true to the universe she'll be in. Of course, take the pieces apart, and her muse can wear them in her daily activities. Soyoun also throws in splashes of her muse's favorite colors... at least those that fit this universe she's sending her muse to.

Sketch, erase, pull her hair in frustration, drink some water; reply to a message from one of the other Crystallis members, occasionally complain to Max, ask her gamer friends for help, draw some more, play with paint samples. Rinse, then repeat. Soyoun supposes that this video will be fast forwarded.

It takes her several hours but she finally has a sketch she's satisfied with. Now, it's time to color it in and show the audiences. "This isn't meant to be perfect," Soyoun says. "It's just the barebones and the bare minimum of what to expect when everything comes together."

When it's all done, Soyoun then steps back and lets the camera film her final sketch.

"Tada! It's all done. This is just the overall tentative look. There are still other sketches to make, such as the technical ones for each piece of clothing that will go into this final piece, but that's for next time. I hope you enjoyed this episode and learned something from it. Always appreciate your designers! Skrrt skrrt! Byeeeee!"
