“people wouldn’t have said the liberation movements in south africa or in vietnam were bad/terrorists/evil” they did though, they were all called those things. the west was against these liberation movements too and so they were heavily propagandized against. colonists have the same game every time. dehumanize, destroy, dominate, and deny/deflect when the truth is clear for the people of the world to see
we know colonized people can fight back and win. we’ve seen south africa, algeria, vietnam, china, and so many other countries stand up against their colonial rulers and come out the other side victorious, despite the propaganda against them and their liberation movements. it’s unnecessary to resort to ahistorical statements. we know that colonized nations can and will be successful in their fight for freedom. palestine is not different in this, and palestinians will be triumphant sooner or later

if you support israel right now, you're supporting the extermination of the palestinian people.
it really is that simple.
this isn't a 'complicated conflict,' it isn't a situation that 'requires nuance,' it's not a 'geopolitical event' that requires us to condemn the 'bad actors' on 'both sides.'
it's a genocide.
there is no 'nuance' to be had here. it's a genocide, committed by the israeli state against the palestinian people, and it's happening right now as we speak. you don't have to infer anything: israel has openly, with next to no pushback from so-called liberal democracies, cut off gaza's access to water, food and electricity. that's more than two million palestinians denied even the basic necessities for life. a million of them, children.
what is that, if not a genocide?
and that's only the latest escalation. we could go all day, listing the atrocities the palestinian people have been subjected to. the killings, the beatings, the children sexually abused in detention center, all the hospitals and ambulances being blown up, videos of palestinians being heckled by settlers as they're driven from their homes, israelis gathering on hilltops to cheer as their military drops bombs on gaza...
but all westerns want to talk about, is hamas.
because the murder of palestinians by the IDF is status quo; it doesn't affect them. what's one more dead palestinian but a statistic? but if hamas has killed a handful of israelis — if they've go as far as to even kill babies — then that justifies the extermination of two million palestinians, children and infants included.
westerns will even say that the palestinians brought it on themselves; that they should have know that a drop of israeli blood requires a river in return.
and just so we're clear, you don't have to like hamas. but when you equate hamas with the IDF, when you derail every conversation by demanding a condemnation of 'both sides,' or when you, god forbid, agree that israel is justified in dismantling hamas — which, as israel themselves have outlined, will involve the complete destruction of gaza and the murder of hundreds of thousands of civilians — then either wake up, or own up to the fact that you're a participant in the extermination of the palestinian people.
do you think i'm being harsh? then imagine how it's like living under constant aerial bombardment. with no food, no water, no electricity. constant air-raid sirens. a bomb, dropping every minute. never knowing a moment a peace, always wondering if today is going to be your last day, if you and your family are still going to be here tomorrow.
could you stomach living in gaza, for even a day? i doubt it.
and still, now, on the eve of what might be the ground invasion of gaza — with one million palestinians being told to flee, with nowhere to go — i'm getting messages from people who demand my sympathy... for israel.
well, you're not getting it.
i'm not even humoring your hand-wringing.
if you live in israel, and you're one of the ones who've turned a blind-eye to the suffering of the palestinian people, if you've fought for the IDF or tacitly supported them, if you've callously called upon the memory of the holocaust thinking the death and suffering of your ancestors would wash the blood of your own hands....
then yeah, i think you deserve every single hamas rocked lobbed at you and so much more.

I'm going insane. A few of the boys I know in my university's History and Political Science departments put up hand drawn posters that said "Free Palestine" around the campus and within 24 hours their department heads hunted down the Muslim students of the group and threatened to take action against them on the grounds of propagating "anti-national" sentiments. I've been busy all day yesterday so that these boys won't be charged with anything (like pro-hamas terrorist activities) and end up in jail. We are nowhere near the Middle East and have virtually no stake in this ongoing genocide. We are witnessing the biggest humanitarian crisis of this decade and all those who can do something about it are either silent or directly cheering it on. What have the ordinary Palestinians done to deserve this kind of hatred?

I hope every leftist on this site knows that Israel itself is the reason why Hamas, the Muslim fundamentalist organization preying on the helplessness of oppressed Palestinians and now killing the Israeli civilians, exists and that Israel's underhanded support of Hamas' founder Yassin virtually destroyed all forms of secular socialist movements in Palestine over the years. Israel created the monster that is Hamas and then they brutalized Gaza by treating it as an open-air prison, trapping the originally diverse Palestinian population inside walls with no one to turn to but the violently antisemitic fundamentalist outfit which they can use as an excuse to randomly bomb the area. Make no mistake, this is not a one-sided war, it's a justification to an ongoing genocide. No western government will ever take a stand for Palestine because they've all been Israel throughout history. Western governments unflinchingly hail their plundering colonial ancestors for their services and they support Israel for doing the same thing. The results will always be the same; deaths of innocents, impoverished and radicalized youth who are ready to throw their own lives away for fundamentalist ideals and endless suffering

Liberals wincing at the brutality of Hamas’ attack is even more smoothbrain when you consider that the Gaza Strip is objectively the worst concentration camp in the world.
It’s the 2nd most densely populated area in the entire world, 95% of water isn’t safe, they are only given 4 hours of electricity (imagine this with the population density and Mediterranean heat), medicine and basic foodstuffs like juice are embargoed. The average age in Gaza is 19 - the old and weak die quickly as their health care system cannot get supplies and doesn’t have stable electricity. More than half of youths under 18 expressed that they have no real desire to live and contemplate suicide regularly. 45% unemployment. Children get blown up playing soccer on the beach by advanced warships. It’s probably the most surveilled and spied upon place in the world. It’s a tiny strip of land 25 miles wide that is regularly subjected to bombing.
In 2018 mass peaceful demonstrations were organized, thousands and thousands of Palestinians marched along the border wall. Israel shot 2,000 of them with live ammunition, but only killed around 200 because they deliberately aim at legs to place even more strain on the depleted medical infrastructure and make an invalid that can’t contribute as well. 36,000 Palestinians were injured peacefully protesting.
Every year the IDF invades Al-Asqa mosque, gasses the worshippers and cracks heads open, and then they leave because there’s no point aside from violent harassment. And then there’s the constant news from other occupied areas of Palestinians being evicted, homes being bulldozed, the survivors fined and harassed. Palestinian olive trees, generational in their age, bulldozed by the occupiers.
Shooting civilians wantonly might be morally dubious in a situation like Hawaii, some place where an occupation makes you disadvantaged and a second class citizen. But Gaza is just flat out a death camp. Of course the commandos went berserk with rage, of course they brought bodies back to parade in the streets - everyone has been dehumanized for their entire lives. Treat people like animals and they might just act like animals once they get their hands on you.

An incomplete list of Palestinians killed in 2022 labeled by name, age, date and location of death.
This doesn’t even cover the last 75 years since the Nabka! It’s clear who the victims of colonization are.

Also Navia is the only character I've decided to pull for so far :( I'm not feeling it like Sumeru or Inazuma
Oh my God Furina is like genuinely annoying. I'm torn between grinning in delight and dreading the future.

I grinded for Kaeya's skin on my stupid tablet for five hours straight while I was literally bedridden to get it on the first day. It's my fault for playing while sick but I swear hoyoverse has no regard for people with sensory issues when designing game modes. I was feeling queasy the entire time I was on the cart. From Inazuma's electrograna, the godawful lightning island to this, they keep getting away with stuff that could trigger sensory overload.
