How Barbie Changed the Way I See My Relantionship With My Mum and Myself

It's been a long time, isn't it? But here we are, back talking about the movie of the year, the one made for girls, guys, and gays.

Welcome to my review of "Barbie," a movie by Greta Gerwig!

Note: It contains some spoilers!

I need to start by saying that Barbie may seem like a superficial movie from the first trailers we got, with Margot and Ryan just having some fun around Barbieland and showing us the movie's scenario. But no one prepared us for its actual content and true meaning because when Barbie starts malfunctioning, it's when we start questioning what Barbie is really about.

Her whole journey to the "Real World" to help the little girl playing with her doll seems like a fun trip, but once she figures out that the so-called Real World is a soul-crushing place for women, where our dreams are barely thoughts and only a few of us really have the chance to live them, it's when the true world doesn't seem so funny to her anymore. Greta did an amazing job with subtle criticisms of machism and misogyny, and the message behind Ken's arc, where he was so supportive of feminism, but when he sees that outside of Barbieland, men are considered ""superior,"" it's like seeing a little boy growing up and losing his innocence, turning into a man who ends up thinking so little of women.

Barbie's journey is so relatable to us women of all kinds, the feeling of growing up and having to step into big roles, facing the problems of a society that thinks every girl needs to be perfect but without exceeding the limits. But what is the real limit here? America Ferrera's (Gloria) monologue about girlhood is so true and deep; it's a feeling of recognition and understanding, to see our thoughts being voiced out.

"We mothers stand still so our daughters can look back and see how far they have come."

She made me realize that my mom is nothing more than a girl at her core, that she has dreams, but she also stopped living for her own so she could help me live my dreams.

The whole movie was amazing; Greta really did a fantastic job with everything. Margot and Ryan fully stepped into their roles, giving us the best performance we could have had. This movie will be remembered forever for how good and meaningful it is.

Hello dear readers, here i come again. Ik I've been MIA for a long time but now I'm back and ready to post a lot of recommendations for yall.

Today's book is about ice skating, figure skating to be more precise (the most lovely ice sport that exists), mixed up with enemies being forced to work together so both of them can get what they want. Tell me, is there any other better dynamic than this one? The answer is no.

So talking about this lovely story, Jasmine Santos is a 26 years old short temper skater who had a bad season with her last partner and now she needs a new beginning, a victory who will put her on the spotlights, bc her whole life is on the blades that cut those ice rings.

Ivan Lukov is an almost 30 years skater, with a golden career, a world champion, who doesn't know the meaning of the word "loser", this blue eyed beauty is just glorious and cold as the sports he practices. But then u ask, how they come to work together? A tip for ya, Jasmine needs a victory and Ivan needs a partner.

I read this book in 4 days bc is so addictive, the chemistry between the two main characters is amazing and makes u laugh everytime they talk with each other. Jasmine is a fierce and strong person with a heart of gold, I love her big mouth and the way she never bends herself to please people. In contrast i didn't like the fact that the author didn't develop her passion for ice skating, she tells why Jasmine loves it but it could have been better, also some of her family issues needed more explanation and a better way to have been dealt with, than just a mention here and there, and pats on the back as "apologies" .

For the ones who needs a track to accompany your reading, I see "Lover of Mine" by 5 Seconds of Summer as this books song.

the art of maturing: a WFTTWTAF review

Hello my beautiful readers, how are yall? So i said that i would do a Dear Evan Hansen review but damn, Luke's album took all of my time and focus from my original plan and now im obsessed, i cant stop listening and it became so special and important to me so today i'll show u guys the reason why.

first i would like to say that no, Luke is not leaving 5sos and going for a solo career, he just made this album so he could sort some things out about himself and his life, so the band still together and hopefully will be for much longer. Ik some of you still have war flashbacks from 1D and personally, i have too, so i wanted to clarify that.

When Facing The Things We Turn Away From is the name of Luke Hemmings first solo album (a huge ass name wtf dude), and i think it suits pretty well the whole dynamic of the songs and lyrics. For me this album reflects the difficults of growing up and realizing that we need to live the present moment, that its okay to make mistakes, but we have to accept who we are and the light and dark of ourselves, to come in terms that we cant just pretend the past didnt happen, but to understand that is part of the maturing process (roll credits).

The first song is called "Starting Line" and it show us a person who just watched the years passing by but didnt get too much from it, idk abt yall but i felt the same way in this quarantine time, i couldnt do too much besides staying home and seeing the things happen, without really living it. WFTTWTAF ends with the track "Comedown" and it was just a beautiful choice, bc this songs is the release, its when u feel the burden fall off your shoulders and then u can finally breath. Luke did an amazing job with the song choices, the melodies and concepts behind it all, feels like a therapy session and i couldnt be more happy abt it.

The line that had most impact on me is from "Diamonds", his voice in this track is so sincere and strong but with a happy undertone, feels like a lullaby but with a deep meaning.

I'm so much colder than I ever wanted to be

im very proud of Luke for coming up with this project that we know its pretty important to him, its amazing and comforting, so thank you Luke Hemmings for this gift that is When Facing The Things We Turn Away From <3

Sounds Good Feels Good: the way 5sos embodied the struggle of being a teenager

Okay so first im starting saying, hello 5sosfam im here today to show my appreciation and love for 5sos a.k.a my comfort band. Its actually funny to me how i feel so comfortable and safe when i hear their songs, bc when i was idk 10y/o and Amnesia never stopped playing on MTV i couldnt stand them, if was not Amnesia playing would be She Looks So Perfect and omg sooo annoying. I liked their music like A LOT but i was living with a leash aroud my neck (here comes the family issues) so i've never had the chance to dig deeper on their work, fortunaly the quarantine gave me that chance so behold and watch this is my opinion abt my fav album, Sounds Good Feels Good by 5 Seconds of Summer.

Justo for a introduction my fav songs of the album are:

Safety Pin

Jet Black Heart

Invisible

We clearly can see that i have a lot of issues here, but my point is THATS EXACLTY WHAT MAKES SOOO GOOD!!! The boys really went ou there making an album about everything that a teenager can feel, all the stress, heartbreak, abandonment issues, family issues and they even say fuck the capitalism with this masterpiece. The whole thing makes me feel that i still have a chance in life to find what i really want for myself (Hey Everyboy!), the lyrics of Broken Home makes me sob everytime of how much i relate to it.

Talking about a much more happy topic, the solos in this album are divine, like Michaels voice in Jet Black Heart we can really feel the pain in his voice and everything, the instrumental of the songs too Ash really got me hyped with his drums in Safety Pin, also Calum my beloved i love his voice in Waste the Night, and last but no least Luke crushing my soul while singing The Girl Who Cried Wolf.

obs: just a big thank u for the person who decided to put violins on the instrumental background of Vapor and Invisible bc it made hurt ten times more.

EVERTHING in this album is perfect and i will never shut up about it, so please go listen to it, i think everyone needs to hear and see that you're not the only one facing problems out there, that you're not alone and everything will be fine at some point. Here's my favorite line from Airplanes so u can see what im saying, u still have a chance to be whatever u want whenever u want, go live your life without fear bc mistakes are part of it, but it only makes us stronger and wiser :)

I don't ever wanna wait for this, I know that I was made for this I won't fade into dark I'm not gonna say that I'm sorry, gonna see the end of this story I won't fade into darkness

what happened to the original plot of the movie: a hsmtmts s2 review

okay so i know that the second season hasnt ended yet but i just need to talk abt some things, obviously this will have a lot of spoilers so be warned.

first things first: the musical of this season is behold and watch... Beauty and the Beast!! *plot twist*

Im not mad that they just throw away my hopes of seeing EJ and Carlos dancing and singing to "I Don't Dance" like Chad and Ryan or Ricky going crazy with "Bet On It", at least we got to see that even if it was in an awkward dancing session in Big Red's room. What im mad abt is the fact that we wait a whole season for Rini to happen and when it happened those morons decided to break up and didnt even sing "I Gotta Go My Own Way" like Troy and Gabriella.

Talking abt the couples in this season, Gina and EJ, SO WELL WRITTEN!! The parallels between things that they said in the first season or in some eps in the second are just amazing to see and im living for it. Also my babies Carlos and Seb are just perfect and i love them so much, even when they fight, they still being the most health and unproblematic couple in the series. Carlos quinceañera got me crying the whole time!

One thing that got me pissed off was the fact that the writers made Gina think romantically abt Ricky when they could've been besties, plus loverboy was head over heels for his ex so is just ?? When she was like "omygosh idk if i want EJ or Ricky" GURL EJ REALLY BOUGHT U A FRICKIN PLANE TICKET!! HE DIDNT EVEN KNOW U SO WELL FOR THAT AND BOUGHT IT ANYWAYS! He can be your sugar daddy if u want seriously (he pays my billss, he payss my telephone bilss, he pays my automobiless), my baby EJ left his jock self and now he is a himbo.

last but not least just wanna say how amazing Ashlyn and Kourtney are, Ashy deserves her recognition and Kourt is an incredible designer (for a teenager who do everything by her own). So im really excited to see the season finale where my baby Jordan Fisher will appear to grace us all.

how can i be part of a 90's ghost rock band?

Okay so i watched julie and the phantoms (for the third time may i add) and its just so comforting and beautiful that i had to comment about it. Just a warning before u read, it may have some spoilers!

So for the people who didnt watch the show yet, its an american version of the brazilian og show called julie e os fantasmas (basically has the same meaning in english) where 3 members from a 90's band die one day before their big show on the Orpheum. When i first watched i laughed so hard from the way they died bc as a brazilian i could never die from a tainted hot dog, bro i've been eating street food since i was a kid and its like a culture from my country, we have the best street dogs everrrr (no cap here). But talking abt the show, the boys from Sunset Curve ( what a cool name btw) die from food poisoning and then cameback in 2020 as ghosts, 25 years after their death, to help a girl named julie find her way back into music.

Okay so about the boys, Luke Petterson, Reggie Peters and Alex Mercer: the himbos. THEY´RE ADORABLE!! The energy that they have, their passion for music and their friendship are just the best. My fav ghost is Reggie (i found me a lover who can play the bass), that boy has the energy of a golden retriever wrapped in the aesthetic of a 5sos fan from 2014. I mean the black ripped jeans, black leather jacket, red flannel around the waist and white t-shirt u cant tell me he wouldn't jam listening to sounds good feels good ( one of my favs album after youngblood). His whole style and personality is just *chef kiss*

Enough abt the boys lets talk abt Julie Molina, one the most talented girls i've ever seen (she, olivia rodrigo and sabrina carpenter are my top 3), her voice is angelic, her personality and style u can not love this girl, SHES AN ICON!!! I shivered every time she sang in the show, the power that she holds damn i love her.

This serie has the energy of a warm cup of hot cocoa in a cold day, its just cozy and relaxing, the plot twist is so good and the songs get stuck in your head. My top 3 songs are:

Edge of Great

Wake Up

Now or Never

I have a huge emotional connection with Edge of Great, so it had to be my number one in that list. Like look at this part and u'll understand me.

"I believe that we're just one dream Away from who we're meant to be That we're standing on the edge of great Something big, something crazy Our best days are yet unknown"

Anyway, i could spend hours talking about this masterpiece but i dont want to bother u guys, so please go watch julie and the phantoms and make your own conclusions abt it. I hope yall like it, so then hopefully we can get a season 2 ;)

i wanna have a 80's romance

Hello my fellow followers (ik theres no one here) today i brought yall another song review and recommendation, the big star of tonight (or today depending on wich time u're reading this), its Humphrey Bogart by my beloved Jeremy Shada.

So okay let do this *claps hands for effect*

This song has such a good vibe, u can feel yourself relaxing to the beat and slowly swaying to the tune. Its the kind of music u hear when u're driving along to the beach coast feeling the wind in your hair, or inside home in a rainy day while reading a cool book, drinking a nice cup of tea (or coffe, although u can also drink bourbon, anyway just drink something).

LETS TALK ABT THE ROMANCE IN THE LYRICS BC IS SO GREAT

my favorite part is:

"Oh baby what a view What a view God knew, god knew God knew what he was doing When he made you"

Jeremy's voice in this part scratches my mind all in the right places, is so soothing and beautiful i wish i had someone to love me the way Jer loves Carolynn (his wife, a queen). So thank u Jeremy Shada for making me cry and want a sappy romance for myself, i definitely love this song ;)

the way hadestown ended me

okay so idk if u know one of the most amazing musicals out there on broadway, but if u dont pls read this and come fall in love with this masterpiece

just to summarize, hadestown talks about Eurydice and Orpheus love (tragic) story, the whole point of the myth is to tells us about faith in the ones we love and ourselves and also to wait for the things to happen on their own accord, but the show goes way deeper than this.

In the fisrt act we see Eurydice meeting with Orpheus who falls in love instantly with her, and then asks her to marry him (tbh i was like: why are we going so faast) and the girl accepts his offer. He tells her they can marry each other after he finishes his song that will bring the seasons back in place, but miss girl couldnt wait so one day before the wedding THAT GIRL DIED (roll credits).

So how Eurydice dies? Hades comes earth to collect Persephone back to hadestown and our wine aunt ( i swear she drinks a lot) refuses to go back bc its not the right season yet, anyway, the man was obsesed with bringing his wife home, so he shows her the city that he built for her and Pershephone looks at him and says: i hated it.

Hades go feral and leaves the underworld queen by herself, saying hes going after someone who values his love (the man doenst know what no means) and thats how we gets to Eurydice's death, Hades (that capitalism bastard) go all SURPRISEE SHAWTYY on her and tells her that he has a whole city waiting for her, with comfort for the poor girl (literally poor), and she accepts it.

In the rest of the musical we see Orpheus trying to get his love back from the dead, im not gonna spoil how it ended, but if u know the myth then you'll know the end.

Okay so lets talk abt the soundtrack bc OMG it was a hell of a experience, the voice of the actors are so pretty and the high notes in the songs damn it was so beautiful. My favorite songs are:

● Way Down Hadestown

● Chant

● When the Chips are Down

● Wait for Me

the last one crushed my soul and tore my heart in two, of how sad and lovable it is, unfortunately i cant say that i want what they have cuz...iykyk

anyway, it was an amazing musical and certainly one of my favorites at this point, i highly recommend it, so buckle up babies bc its going to be a hell of a ride ;)
