Hope values huck so much, and huck is that one adult she feels connected to. She trusts her, and it's not just because she thinks she's cool. She likes that huck levels with her. She feels like she can be herself and get hucks true self back.

She takes hucks words and advice to heart. She struggles with everyone else, but what huck says is what she thinks she needs to believe, and so she regurgitates words she doesn't even necessarily believe in herself because she likes the way huck sees her and wants to be more like her.

Mal standing up against the apparat is something that can be so special to me. Mal is a soldier, albeit a deserted one. He is good at following orders, even when he makes reckless choices. He also carries deaths with him of people that were unprepared for the war that they face. He refuses to let the apparat send more people to die for this cause without a fight. He will not mark them, but he will train them because he knows they'll die if he doesn't. He doesn't follow the apparat. He believes in alina, and he makes that clear. What he does, he does in service to alina. He follows orders, but the apparat is not his commander.

Alina carries so much guilt over all the grisha that were lost in Os Alta. She feels responsible for all grisha and all of ravka in general. Alina does not know all of their names, but she wishes she did. They do not have the time, and people are unwilling to discuss it with them, but they wish they could make a list of all that were lost. They know that it'd only be used to further torture her, though. Continuing to add to her list of failures. They carry all they lost with them, and they use it as motivation.

I personally do not think Ryan was being malicious in telling Layla that she may need to alter her medication. I can even believe that he meant talk to your provider about this (I do think that was implied). However, I also think layla is going to take this and try to manage it all on her own. She has come very far, and she does have a therapist that she talks to, but I fear she will decide to alter the dose on her own to try.
