Man, okay, update time I suppose:
Things have been rough for a bit. On the one hand, I'm doing really well at setting up a schedule for my schoolwork, but on the other, I'm struggling in a lot of facets of my life. I'm going through some internal feelings about my self worth, specifically, & I've run out of ways to talk about it to my friends.
Wintertime is usually very difficult for me, so today, I'm going to try and work on ways to mitigate that. I'm gonna reach out, make some stuff I know will help me, and take things easy for the most part.

to-do list: november
control your environment. surround yourself with the kindest people, with the calmest music, with the softest clothes. make yourself comfortable. the world will not always do it for you.
be as independent as you possibly can, but do not fear reaching for help. you are constantly growing and improving, don’t let your obsession with autonomy hinder you from becoming a better version of yourself.
set your priorities straight. there are things you want to do, and there are things you need to do, and there are things you need to do in order to do the things you want to do. do them first.
believe in your abilities. believe in your aspirations, your reasons, and your hopes. hold on to your motivation as much as possible. everyone needs time, but many forget that they need their own strength as well.
be overwhelmed. make mistakes. be thoroughly done with everything. notice how you change during your low points in life. notice how you plant a seed in your mind, something that will bloom. take care of it. you will grow and flourish soon enough.

an author i love just tweeted about how “big joy and small joy are the same” and how she was just as content the other night eating chocolate and cuddling her dog as she was on her Big Trip to new york and honestly. i think that’s it. this morning i was listening to an audiobook while baking shortbread in my joggers and i realised i really didn’t care what Big Things happened in my future as long as i could keep baking and reading at the weekend and maybe that is the kind of bar we have to set to guard ourselves against disappointment. just appreciate and cherish the mundane stuff and see everything else as a bonus.

Finally got the chance to take some photos!!
One is two notebooks flipped to a random note page I've done between last time I posted pics and now, and the other one is just the top two shelves of my desk!!
I'm really proud of my desk setup- the desk part is clean and functional, and I have everything I need to work on school or do work right above me! Plus, my beanie baby collection, clowns, and other assorted knick knacks have always brought me joy 💛☀️💛

I don't have any pictures today, only a little update!
1. Hello new followers!! I wasn't expecting to even have any followers on this account, since I'm 100% doing this blog to keep me motivated, but it's nice that you're here!! ☀️
2. An update on my whole situation:
I feel like, for me, it is important to be a little bit more transparent on my studyblr than my main. Not that any one is entitled to my story, but I feel comfortable giving details here because the space of studying is such a personal one, and because it's often so romanticized that we all tend to forget that we still have outside lives and struggles beyond schooling.
I deal with a substantial amount of anxiety and trauma, and sometimes those things get in the way of my work. I have to treat those days as sick days, in order to recover and keep going the next day without burning out. I don't post here as often as I would like to for those reasons.
Recently, I've been trying to get my first job! Which, as you can imagine, is not the easiest, to say the very least.
But in the midst of that, I came to something I have to remind myself of from time to time. I'm working on getting a job because I want to move out of my hometown by the time I am ready. I want to be able to save up enough to do that, so I'm starting now. Doing my schoolwork is also a part of this plan, but most the time, it feels like something I am barely chipping away at, since I've got so many credits left to complete.
In order to leave town, though, I have to finish school first. I have to remember that the work I do here, nearly every day, is worthwhile. The work I do in therapy is worthwhile. Everything I am doing is another step forward towards my goal.
That's all- I felt compelled to write this post again, mostly for myself, but I'm very glad if you find something in it that resonates with you too!! 💛☀️💛

Studying with Trauma Tip #1
So my first tip will be probably the most important one I know, although it’s the hardest to learn.
Don’t punish yourself for not being able to do what everyone else can.
Although everyone has their own issues, especially in college, trauma and other mental health issues make it much, much harder to do even the bare minimum in classes and extracurriculars. Do your best not to compare yourself or your progress to others that have different struggles or different coping mechanisms than you.
Do your best for you, and appreciate that for the sometimes-Herculean effort that it is.
I’m proud of you, and we can do this.

I didn't do any schoolwork today, since it's Sunday, but I am going to try and sleep much earlier than normal because my sleep schedule has been all messed up and it really impacts my work.
Technically there's no school tomorrow, but I'm still going to work because I'm trying to get myself in the swing of a new schedule AND I won't be doing much work Friday since I have a prior appointment that will take the whole day.

This is my workspace!
I try and keep it fairly minimal, since I need a lot of room to move around while I work. Today is a Notes Day on my schedule, so I have my highlighters, pencil, and notebooks!
I got all my work done today, which I am very proud of. Tomorrow is a no notes day, but it's also Friday!!

Got a little behind recently, and my sleep schedule got knocked off track, so. wack! :x
Three (3) pieces of good news:
1. Got a new book!! I'm trying to get back into the swing of reading (honors kid burnout syndrome babey) so I'm very excited to start reading it!!
2. I found a new timer app (Tomato Timer) that's helped me study really well :0
3. Found out there's more queer studyblrs than I thought?? It's wild!! Hello community!! 💛
Anyway, I'm typing this at 2:20 AM so I should really be heading to bed. Goodnight world! I'll try and post more often!

13.09.2020 I @spell-studies challenge, end of week 3
how did this week go for you?
coffee and plum pie. a hint of productivity. some camping fun. a very late night outside talking to my best friends. a mini-trip and quality time that was desperately needed. unexpected warmth. missing him terribly. an unexpected wave of grief.
what is your plan for the upcoming week?
finally register my classes on monday. celebrate my grandma’s birthday. see my guy again (i miss him and i hate it). work on that clean-every-last-bit-of-the-flat attitude?? try to go shopping with my mum unless the city is too crowded. finish at least one book (been in a slump, only reading 10 pages a day at most). try to get a therapist appointment.
