My parents got a new kitten and it’s very cute. It spends like 90% of its time sleeping and 10% of its time acting as a small furry rocket with the sole goal of taking you out at the ankles.

Look I try to be a good snake mom and provide lots of hides and enrichment that are big enough for a growing corn, but this little bastard insists on cramming into a literal piece of trash that he is barely small enough to fit in. Why creature. Why.

In the previous tags there is mention of confusion as to why people might fight over who had it worse, and speaking as someone who is at one point or another deemed gifted or deemed stupid, the education system uses both groups as tools against one another.
Like the gifted kids are simultaneously warned that they don’t want to be relegated to the stupid class, while also seeing that, from their perspective, the “stupid kids” have much less going on in the gifted kids who are constantly being worked to death have going on. The slackers always seem to have it easy.
On the other hand, the stupid kids are constantly belittled and told that they will never have access to the same kind of opportunities that their gift counterparts will. They see that the gifted kids get all of the meager resources, while the stupid kids are prevented from participating in the few things that make school life fun. You can’t join sports, or be in the school play if your GPA isn’t good enough.
The system works best when it puts these groups against each other, and so it’s no surprise, to me at least, that those resentments continue on along with the trauma.
"the education system traumatizes students it deems stupid" and "the education system traumatizes students it deems gifted" are two concepts that can and should coexist.

we have an overflow of Ashleys in my class of Bar-takers, and the two I spend the most time with could not be more opposite if they tried. One Ashley has plastered a wall of her study room with motivational quotes and inspirational Disney lines, to help her keep her spirits up and pass the Bar. The other Ashley has plastered the wall of her study room with pictures of the dumbest lawyers she’s ever met, because if they can pass the Bar, she can pass the Bar.
we’re all a little crazy at this point.

Absolutely not an expert, but one of the reasons I'm aware of that you graduate from pinkies, is because the older, larger prey have more developed bones, and introduce more calcium to the snake. I know garters for instance, if they're eating only fish, need calcium supplemented through vitamin powder and the like.
I have my friend's corn snake. She bought her from PetSmart in Sept 2018. She's grown quite a bit over the last few months, but I'm worried she's still underweight. She is a bit over 2 feet long and her widest part around is maybe as big as my thumb. I've been giving her 2 pinkies every 10 days. What would you suggest?
Hrm, she’s two years old and still getting pinkies? It sounds like your friend was underfeeding her by quite a bit. I would recommend getting her on a kitchen scale and weighing her. Offer prey equal to 10% of her body weight every 7 days, gradually increasing the prey size over the next month or so until she’s getting about 15% of her body weight in food. I’d say stick with 15% of her weight every week and keep an eye on her growth rate over the next year. She might be permanently stunted but she might also catch up over time? Watch her body condition, too. Corn snakes should be shaped somewhat like a slice of zucchini bread or pound cake, with a domed back and straight sides. If her body condition seems to be getting pudgy you can decrease her meals to 10% and/or decrease feeding frequency to every 10 days again. I hope that she gets onto a sturdy growth rate and that you enjoy getting to know her!
