I mean we never saw a body or heard a story about her death….she could be alive and apart of some pekka plan or something.
I just find it hard to believe they ‘killed her’ without any proof they actually killed her…..
i also think by fridging tante heleen they took a lot away from inej’s personal journey, the manipulation and abuse she experienced, the horror of being caught back in those fake silks, the triumph stealing the jewel right off her neck, all these things inej worked through herself and did for herself in the books become something solely for kaz to save her from, and sure he’s always played a part in her freedom but those steps were really important for inej to work through her trauma originally. consolidating inej’s trauma from heleen/the menagerie and his own into the one villain who was already always his to vanquish was such a bad move
Disclaimer, this is coming from someone who didn't read any of the s&b books and read only a few chapters of soc
I enjoyed s2 but not as much as s1. S1 had flaws but s2 was all over the place and rushed and at times I was confused, probably because I lacked context from the books (tho I think the show adaptation should be able to stand on its own—it wasn't stuff I thought were callbacks or references but more like holes... Anyway. and tbh I'm really only interested in the crows storyline 😅
however, unfortunately as you pointed out, they don't know how many seasons they'll get and is not guaranteed. they are also only given 8 episodes to work with.. and that's such a terrible thing that netflix and binge watching culture has done to TV
anyway idk where I'm going with this but only reason I'm looking forward to s3 (if there is one) is more crows.. didn't really care about anything else
I agree, if you didn’t realise the books it may have been confusing. I only read the crows books, but I enjoyed the Alina/darkling/nikolai parts of the show, but I’m sure some of it went over my head from not reading the books.
I REALLY hope for either a season 3 or a SOC spin off, but again, it’s not guaranteed…so I’m grateful we got to see some of our favourite scenes despite the context
Secondly, to everyone saying that the storyline was rushed/changed, specifically about the crows….there’s a good chance there may not be a next season, we should be grateful we got to see it AT ALL. They may not ever got the green light to do a spin off, getting that is more difficult than people realise.
Yes it’s different, yes some scenes were before they were ‘supposed’ to happen. But that way may be the ONLY way it can be done and have us see it. A third season isn’t guaranteed. We may never seen these characters on our screens again. They tried to fit in the best scenes for us to be able to see because we might not get another chance. People are acting like another season/crows spin off is guaranteed and therefore they should have waited to ‘do it properly’. This could be it ya’ll. The writers knew that, the producers knew that. Leigh knows that.
Sometimes you have to sacrifice some things to get what you want
