Does anyone else ever think about the missing first year of the Host Club?

Like, we get information about Tamaki arriving in Japan, showing up at Ouran, gathering members and forming the host club “family” when he’s in middle school. 

And then, of course, we get the club at the time when Haruhi arrives. The club operates pretty smoothly by then. Things aren’t perfect (the stuff they start out selling is no good, for example), but they’re doing remarkably well. They’re throwing massive events, wearing elaborate costumes, flat-out changing the  club room’s entire atmosphere and they still have ‘too much time on their hands’. 

But there’s a whole year in between, and there’s so much I want to know about it. 

 There’s a mention of other clubs doing, well, regular club things, and having advisors, which the host club doesn’t have. I’d imagine there are a lot of rules Tamaki had to bypass (my guess is Yuzuru just let him do what he wanted, bc he’s an asshole who doesn’t know how to deal with this kid of his. Like Tamaki just came up to him like heycanIdomyclubthingwithmybestfriendit’sgonnabereallygreat- and Yuzuru was just like ‘sure’) (alternately, Tamaki just charmed people into letting him do his thing).

How did the rest of the students react? There must have been gossip about it, especially because of the connotations of a so-called “host club”. (Though it’s also true that Ouran students might not know too much about your typical host club). Were the initial guests shy or confused? Did people take some time to show up, or was the club crowded from day one? 

 Was there jealousy or resentment towards the club members because of their sudden popularity? We see this with Akira Komatsuzawa, but there’s no way he was the only one. 

And how did the hosts themselves adjust? Tamaki had decided on their archetypes pretty early, but I’d imagine their respective personas took a lot of trial and error. 

What about the twins? They’d been dismissive at best, bullies at worst, for pretty much the whole time students knew them (so, like, since elementary school in most cases). 

Honey, on the other hand, already had a whole frickin fan club. The host club’s request rates were never balanced (with Tamaki getting 70% and all), but I’d have to imagine it started off even less so. 

What were their first themes and cosplays like? How long did it take for them to start having events? How did they go from lonely people with a weird new friend in common to a team, and from a team to a family?

So many questions!

‘Miss Kobayashi’s Dragon Maid’ Season 2 Coming 2021

On August 11, the official Twitter for comedy anime Miss Kobayashi’s Dragon Maid announced that the a new TV anime series entitled Miss Kobayashi’s Dragon Maid S (Kobayashi-san Chi no Maid Dragon S) by Kyoto Animation will premiere in 2021.

To celebrate the announcement, official commemorative Twitter icons and banners were uploaded to the anime’s website.

The first season of Miss Kobayashi’s Dragon Maid was directed by Tasuhiro Takemoto at Kyoto Animation and aired in 2017. A second season was announced in 2019 but its status was unknown until now following the death of Yasuhiro Takemoto during the Kyoto Animation arson attack.

The anime, based on the manga of the same name by Coolkyousinnjya, follows the daily life of an office worker Kobayashi and her maid Tohru, a powerful dragon who emerged from another world and fell in love with Konbayashi. The manga is published in Japanese by Futabasha and in English by Seven Seas Entertainment.

The first season of Miss Kobayashi’s Dragon Maid is available to watch on Crunchyroll and Funimation.

The First Cartoon LGBT Representation That No One Talks About

With many people talking about the 2010s cartoons being progressive by  representing LGBT such as 

LGBT weddings 

Main characters confirming their gay/lesbian/bi 

and side characters being gay

But as someone who was born in 2000s in Canada, there’s one cartoon LGBT representation that I barely hear anyone talk about and that is Jean from 6teen.

 She first appeared on the 89th episode of the show where Nikki befriends her and was curios if she’s lesbian or not.  Unlike most shows where they have to hints that they are gay and show it by the end, 6teen just spill the beans by having her say “Yes, I’m into girls”. 

And then they show her going to prom with a girl 

This is probably the first cartoon show that represent LGBT in the most chillest way by telling that she’s into girls. No hints, no waiting till the end of the series or anything, just flat out saying she’s a lesbian.

Idk what to do. I’ll officially be an adult in a year, and I don’t have my life together. Can’t drive, can’t even cook ffs. My mind is full of thoughts I don’t want to have. I act like I’m happy, but I’m really not. No one notices. It hurts. I want to be enough for someone. I want to matter. Make someone’s day. But I can’t. I’m a mess. I’m sorry. I barely eat anymore, I’m tired all the damn time no matter how much sleep I get, I have no motivation to do anything anymore. I isolate myself in my room, away from my family. I wish I wasn’t like this. I wish I was different, and not a pathetic excuse of a friend/daughter/sister/girlfriend. I’m always thinking about this shit, and I don’t tell anyone. But it’s just getting worse. I might take more meds for my depression and anxiety. Not sure yet. I hate feeling like this. I’m sorry I’m bothering you guys with my shit. I feel I won’t survive in the real world. I’m so fucking scared of growing up. I’m terrifed. I have so many god damn issues. Like my epilepsy, ADHD/ADD, being 17 and 4'9, my mental health, weight, body, etc. I mean I didn’t even dance with my girlfriend at homecoming. I was too damn scared. I hate huge-ass crowds, and on top of that it was loud af and dark. I’m such a god damn fuck up.

I feel I can do anything

After MONTHS of not thinking about him, talking to him, etc we finally hold a nice conversation. He’s matured so much, and that means alot to me. Do I still hold a special place in my heart for him? Yes. But all I care about is making sure he’s okay and happy, better than when he first got to the facility. I can’t explain this feeling, but as he sent me what I told him all those months ago, I got a weird, happy feeling inside. He saved that huge ass paragraph I sent when he..sent me a video (no, I am not going to tell ANYONE what it was about). I feel I can do whatever I put my mind to.

So Austin, this is to you. I am so proud of your progress so far. You still got a long way to go, but you can do this, I know you can. I believe in you. I still think of you every now and then, I even still have the bear and I have the rings in a little box in my room.
