I keep having epiphanies about stuff, it’s so exhausting!! Just a minute ago I realized that novels are longer than short stories and therefore can have slower pacing. Like, really? -_- I admittedly don’t read a lot of books so I don’t know that sort of thing. Yikes!!

I love one (1) man and his influencer girlfriend 😭
“I always like being with you, Darlin. Last time I felt like this about someone, I married her. Doesn’t that mean anything?”
“You’ll have fans,” she stresses. “People could recognize you on the street. They’ll bug you. And take pictures.”
“Okay? A small price to pay.”
“They’ll dig into your past. They’ll find out where you live.”
“I got nothing to hide. I am but a humble security guard.” I pull her into my embrace and stroke my fingers through her hair. She wraps her arms around me with no hesitation. “It’s okay. I know what I’m getting into.”
“You don’t,” she whimpers into my shirt. “You have no idea. No idea… Someone could stalk you or something.”
“Me? Nah. I’m just Rosie Solares, normal dude. All those new followers will lose interest when I don’t post any pics.”
Darlin sniffles, then pulls back to cup my face in her hands, serious as a heart attack. “Do you really not know how hot you are?”
I blink. “Me? C’mon.”
“It’s true. With some style and a haircut, you could make numbers on Insta.”
“You sayin’ I ain’t stylish?”
“Yes.” She smiles through her tears. “But it’s not a deal-breaker.”

Happy STS! What's your favourite line you've ever written? Have a nice weekend xx /@catharticallysarcastic/
Happy STS!! @catharticallysarcastic
I could never pick a favorite line, I’ve written so many! It’s been like 17 years!! I am partial to this segment from a poem of mine (I’ve posted the original here but it’s gone through editing now, lol) titled the throes of ego death:
and still— and yet— i’m full of love!
That’s it. :)

Ten questions to ask a friend who just read your novel
Here are ten questions to ask that will not put your friend in a tough spot, but will still give you some useful input on your novel:
1. At what point did you feel like “Ah, now the story has really begun!”  2. What were the points where you found yourself skimming?  3. Which setting in the book was clearest to you as you were reading it? Which do you remember the best?  4. Which character would you most like to meet and get to know?  5. What was the most suspenseful moment in the book?  6. If you had to pick one character to get rid of, who would you axe?  7. Was there a situation in the novel that reminded you of something in your own life?  8. Where did you stop reading, the first time you cracked open the manuscript? (Can show you where your first dull part is, and help you fix your pacing.)  9. What was the last book you read, before this? And what did you think of it? (This can put their comments in context in surprising ways, when you find out what their general interests are. It might surprise you.)  10. Finish this sentence: “I kept reading because…”
Your friend is probably still going to tell you, “It was good!” However, if you can ask any specific questions, and read between the lines, you can still get some helpful information out of even the most well-meaning reader.

Somebody to Love by Queen was Darlin’s introduction to music from Earth Prime 😭 And she’s pissed off when nothing else sounds like it. Imagine the first song you ever hear is Somebody to Love by Queen... Amazing.
