What is a fair hourly rate for a plumber?

There are those plumbers who are self employed and set their own hourly rates. When a plumber makes the transition from employed to self-employed, many of them tend to offer lower rates to break into the market and build up their brand.

It also depends which part of the country the plumber is in. For example, London is more expensive. But even though London is more expensive, the market is saturated – there are too many plumbers in London. This can then bring prices down.

Typical prices, for pre-booked jobs (and not emergency call outs), can be anywhere from £20 to £60 per hour. But some plumbers do not have an hourly rate. They instead quote a price for the job at hand.
