Record labels, take note: PRELUDE is what’s possible when you let your artists take charge of their vision, with no crazy PR stunts to overshadow the music and their talent. Ever since Lauren Jauregui released her debut single Expectations in October 2018, I knew that she was going to kill it as a solo artist, and she certainly proved us right with PRELUDE. The three-year long wait was worth it, as this woman DELIVERED with the lyrics, vocals, and of course, the visuals, as she unveiled her project to us through a worldwide livestream of her performing each and every song. Because PRELUDE was only the beginning, I’m even more excited for Lauren’s debut album than I was before, if that’s even possible. Oh, and I’d have to say that my top three are 1. Sorry 2. Don’t Wanna Say and 3. Scattered.
Now how could we possibly write a lyrical analysis of Camila or Lauren’s songs without considering them from a Camren perspective? That’s like studying To Kill a Mockingbird without racial injustice, physics without gravity, or American history without the Revolutionary War. I’ve never actually written out a physical Camren lyrical analysis before, but let’s show all these new kids on Twitter and TikTok how it’s done, shall we?
