It would be unkind for Elizabeth to refuse her Leicester. Leicester was her companion? He was. He did have a wife, but then she died.

Today at therapy was really hard. I was sitting here crying, and generally being miserable, when I felt a nudge at my knee. I looked down to see that Zeus, my service dog, was doing his job… and brought me a potato. it is very hard to cry with a gift of potato.

“Responding to New York City was our first deployment,” Carliss, of national disaster group Texas Task Force 1, told BarkPost of their mission to provide relief to the first wave of 9/11 responders.
Bretagne was just 2 years old at the time and as Carliss recalled, her playful-puppy demeanor paid off.
Upon first catching sight of the immense destruction, Carliss said she was momentarily stunned. Her trusty companion on the other hand, couldn’t wait to dive in.
“I just couldn’t believe the magnitude and then I looked down at her and she seemed stoked and ready to work,” Carliss recalled.
As their relentless, 12-hour days went on, she said their work went from search and rescue to recovery efforts.
Throughout the physical and emotional turmoil, Bretagne often took it upon herself to serve as a comfort to firefighters and first responders. With a nudge of her snout she’s credited with breaking the strongest stone faces.
That included Corliss’.
“I was just so grateful to have a canine partner that helped me get through it,” she recalled.
New York City recently threw Bretagne an adorable sweet 16 birthday party.

These are some of them, most were golden retrivers and labradors, but also included german shepherds and other breeds. Sadly most are dead now, while many people forget them and don’t spare them a thought.
As people lay dying, trapped and hurt, a team of nearly 100 loyal and courageous search dogs put their lives on the line to help humans. Without them, many more would not have survived, yet few people consider them.
In such a chaotic, terrifying, hot, acrid-smelling, smokey and loud environment, countless human lives depended on their ability to focus, listen, respond to their handlers, and work tirelessly. Stepping over cracked glass, hot tarmac, through flames and thick smoke, being winched over deep ravines, they battled on to seek out survivors and bring them aid.
They worked around the clock, day and night, searching, sniffing, over and over. Not only did they search, but they comforted - many eyewitnesses speak of how the dogs would stop and sit by newly-recovered victims, giving them a sense of hope and relief, before moving on to look for the next. As the situation became desperate, and the rescue workers and fire teams became utterly distraught at the amount of people who were recovered dead, these dogs brought them comfort, sitting with them on breaks, letting them grieve.
Many of these dogs are old, and have passed away. Let us remember the courage and loyalty they showed at such a horrendous event. They didn’t have a choice, but nonetheless they did what was asked of them and helped save countless lives. Don’t let their bravery be forgotten today either, or their determination to be a ‘good dog’ despite the scary and dangerous environment around them.

I want every single person on Tumblr read this. This is important, this is what SJW are doing. It’s not just a Tumblr issue and that’s simply terrifying.

I’d just like to add that this doesn’t condemn trigger warnings, it condemns the overabuse of trigger warnings which makes them appear defunct and take away the seriousness of their implications
Think people who self-diagnose themself with depression or schizophrenia because they think it makes them edgy or cool
It’s important that we be provoked.  The world is a dangerous and strange place and we’ve got to be able to deal with that.
If you sterilize a child’s environment, physically, they will form allergies to things because their body doesn’t know how to deal with foreign things being around.  Thus, if you sterilize a child’s mental environment, they won’t know how to deal with things that upset them or seem strange.  We are, as a generation, becoming ‘allergic’ to emotional response and the reactions are becoming disproportionate.
Social justice, at its nature, is a good thing.  Feminism, pro-gender and sexuality, and the push towards better understanding of mental illness are all good things that we as a people need to get a grip with and integrate into our society to be a better people.
However, this… dramatic overreaction to anything deemed remotely offensive, this hypersensitivity to concepts we may not necessarily agree with and at worst, the complete refusal to understand or analyze them, is dangerous and backward.
A phobia is not treated by isolation, it is treated by slow exposure and an acquired respect.  You don’t have to like things, but you do have to be able to understand them and be able to discuss and analyze them like adults.
The right to provoke intellectually, and to be provoked, is necessary to any artist, educator, scientist and thinker.  Because there will be times when your world view is wrong and there is no castle, no ivory tower of structured thinking, that is not worthy of being challenged.
Oh my word, please do yourself a favor and read this. It’s a little lengthy  but it really highlights a lot of the major problems with not only tumblr’s culture, but really America on the whole.
It doesn’t straight up condemn the idea of trigger warnings really or even the idea of political correctness necessarily. It DOES warn how the overabuse of these things have negatively affected our generation.

I don’t think it matters whether it’s been 5 days, 5 months, or 5 years since you’ve truly had your heart broken. I don’t think it ever really leaves you.
