I’m not going to sit here and say that I don’t agree with any of the criticism people make about MCU Spider-Man. I do understand and agree with some of them.
That being said, it’s really fucking annoying when people who genuinely don’t like Tom Holland’s Spider-Man makes it a point to say they hate it everytime someone talks about it.
Like we get it... you think Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield are better... go watch their movies then. Skip the Spider-Man movies in the MCU. It’s not that big of a deal.

Unpopular Opinion:
I doubt that Andrew Garfield and Tobey Maguire are going to have large roles, if any, in Spider-Man 2021. I’d be surprised if they had anything more than a cameo.
Furthermore, I don’t think they should play any major roles, for a few reasons. For one, it’s not their movies- they already had their chance, and I feel like there is still so much left to explore with MCU Peter’s character- besides, his story left off at a part that I really want to see him navigate through it by himself.
I also really don’t see any way they can incorporate either character as major characters and for it to do well, while focusing on MCU Spider-Man’s development.

Homecoming was a Spider-Man plot with a Peter Parker subplot. Peter was focused on Spider-Man this movie, and trying to be a worthy hero. The Peter Parker plot of it was directly tied around the Spider-Man plot, as everyone was trying to encourage him to just be a kid for once.
Meanwhile, Far From Home is a Peter Parker plot with a Spider-Man subplot. Peter was focused on having time for himself after coming back from the dead. His Spider-Man plot was directly tied around the Peter Parker plot in this movie, as it was quite literally about how he couldn’t run from it no matter how he tried.
After we got both a Spider-Man centered plot in Homecoming and a Peter Parker centered plot in Far From Home, I think the third movie will be centered around connecting the two. The first two movies dabbled a bit into this, but I really think we’re going to see how both parts of his life directly affect each other.

Love seeing Tom Holland try so hard to keep us updated on Spider-Man 3, without giving spoilers. I fucking love him. 💕

Peter Parker deserves better than the shit we put him through in fanfics. But I’m still going to put him through it.

I know you don’t like how people bash Peter and Tony’s relationship in favor of Morgan (which is fair) but what’s your opinion on Morgan in general.
I’m gonna get hate for this.
I’ll be honest, I like fanon Morgan, but I just don’t understand why she exists in canon? She didn’t do anything to help or move the storyline in anyway?
I mean if she was there to make Tony’s death sadder, than that just confirms what I said in my rant post, because they obviously thought Tony’s death wouldn’t be sad or as sad with out the existence of biological family. Basically, they once again thought found family was unimportant- or not as important as biological family- and I’m not just talking about Peter.
I honest to god forgot Morgan existed when Tony died, and it didn’t change the emotional impact of the death for me at all. Perhaps if they gave us any reason for us to care about her other than “she’s Tony Stark’s daughter” then maybe I would understand, but the fact of the matter is, it wasn’t impactful because Morgan existed.
Rhodey, Peter and Pepper’s reactions are what made it impactful for me. His character development in general made it impactful for me. I mean, perhaps there was someone out there who found Morgan’s existence impactful, and more power to them, but personally, I just felt she was unnecessary.
She could not exist, and I’d be fine. I did like some of the cute scenes between her and Tony- but overall as a character? I don’t understand what role she was supposed to play.

Tbh, if you want to complain about Peter getting more attention in Irondad fics than Morgan, at least try to understand why that is.
I’m just really sick of people using “Morgan is his real child” as their main argument against Irondad & Spiderson, because it really ignores what makes Peter & Tony’s relationship so popular. Now I’m not saying that you have to see Tony & Peter’s relationship as father/son like a lot of people do, but if Morgan being Tony’s biological child is your main point, you are ignoring the fact that part of the reason so much fanfics revolve around Peter is because they aren’t related.
People love the found family trope, and see a father/son relationship between Peter and Tony, because believe it or not, people need that trope. Not everyone is privileged enough to have a biological family, and for Peter, all his father figures are dead, and he also leads a double life- May isn’t going to be someone he can go to about things concerning Spider-Man. Of course she loves him, and she’ll try her best, but the fact of the matter is, she can’t relate to what he’s going through at the moment.
Not only this, but we’ve really been fucked over so many times with the found family trope when it comes to the MCU- and yes, this includes Tony and Peter’s relationship. The cast and crew hyped up Peter and Tony’s relationship, only to place biological family first anyways, so we, as the fans, turn to fanfiction to get this off our chests.
Look, if you didn’t see Tony and Peter’s relationship as father son, that’s fine, just say that you didn’t interpret it that way, as long as you aren’t rude about it, you should be fine. However, if you use “Morgan is his biological family” as a legitimate argument, find a new argument.
Also, I’d like to point out that Peter gets more attention in general, because as a character, he got much more development compared to Morgan. This is understandable, seeing as how Morgan is a minor character and Peter is a main character, but writing her as the focus just feels like writing an OC.
