I just got this screen in the White Wolf for the first time ever! It's what happens if you're outside at 5:30 and trying to travel to a location, while the weather is breaching into 'dangerously cold' zone. Nancy shows your this beautiful sunset, says she's heading back in, and then you're teleported back to the lodge. Love that for her. Our responsible girl.

She’s finally done!! (From this WIP) I could probably continue refining if I wanted to, but I’m calling it here. Love ddi, loved making this.
This was heavily referenced, but really good way to stretch and get into doing full illustrations, i may do more like these cause it’s a great way to practise, but I do wanna do some of my own compositions for Nancy illustrations in the future.

One of the things I love about what I think of as the "Golden Era" of ND games is that they don't spoon feed you every tiny detail. Sure, they make sure that you're aware of the major plot points and over explain some of the important things, but there's a lot of things that are never mentioned and you'll never catch unless you're REALLY paying attention.
For example, in ICE, you can tell from the first conversation you have with Guadalupe that she's lying about why she's at the lodge. She makes a list of all the birds she's observed during her stay, but then if you compare that to the migration charts on the lodge computer, you'll find that a lot of those birds aren't in even Canada during the Winter.
Ergo she's either a very bad bird-watcher orlooking at something else through those binoculars. It's not an important detail, and you eventually find out everything about her anyway, but it's the kind of story building that makes for a really immersive experience and allows you to be the detective, not just follow a story.

Brigitte with her eyes so bright
Looks toward heaven at midnight
On the longest night of year
That’s the one she holds most dear
“Starry friends,” she’s often heard to say
“How I wish that I could make you stay”
She knows though they can’t remain
Time will bring them round again

This also explains why Lou couldn’t find whatever broke it. He explicitly talks about that. The old ice ball through the window trick.
*SPOILER WARNING*
I know Yanni is responsible for some of the mishaps at the lodge…but what about, for example, Lou Talbot’s window busting? What was the deal with that?
Like I cannot fathom why crackhead Ollie thinks the wolf did a dern thing. It doesn’t seem like Isis caused a single problem.
I would like to know who/what you think was responsible for each of the “accidents.”
(ALSO…WHY DID CHANTEL NOT GET SOME SECURITY CAMERAS….SHORTEST MYSTERY EVER. )
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I think (KNOW in some of the cases) that:
Yanni stole Lupe’s alarm clock and caused the bunkhouse explosion. I suppose he did this, so Chantel wouldn’t have a place to house the staff and couldn’t hire any new people, because if this? No staff would mean no guests.
Yanni swapped Becky’s mayo with one of the expired jars from The Needle (or just dumped some into the potato salad when she was not looking…seems like a cook would’ve smelled expired mayonnaise, but I digress). This caused the food polishing of Becky and the Faringdales. No more French fries for little Susie!
Yanni iced the stairs so Carl slipped down them and had to leave, due to his injuries (hard to ski with both legs broken…yikes).
Lou’s window broke because it was old/already had a flaw and was weakened by the vibrations from the explosions (?).
L. slashed Elsa’s tires? Out of a jealous rage or some chemical imbalance? I’m not completely sold on this, because that would’ve kept her at the lodge, which isn’t what he wants, so…Yanni may have done this, too. To make her want to quit and leave…but she can’t, because her car has flat tires…why trap the maid there, if he wants people gone?
Yanni cut the phone wires...for some reason?
Yanni sabotaged the sauna, so that fumes were let in and made the Southewaites “ill, if you know what I mean.”
Lupe used a bullet to alter Ollie’s rifle sight so he missed…and missed again…and again…
Was Yanni the one who stole and put those pics of Bill in the Sauna? Did he trap Nancy or was the door really just stuck?
I may have missed some…
Discuss!

I'm gonna say this in the loosest most bastardized way that I can, but I absolutely adore how ghostwriters will absolutely abuse the fact that Carson has his own law firm as an excuse for him to do whatever the hell he wants.
Although there is some amount of "wiggle-room" in real life with lawyers in Carson's position, I know it's not even remotely close to being accurate but Carson can get away with it because he's just that good of a lawyer and he owns his own business.
He is technically a criminal prosecutor. But also a defense attorney whenever he feels like it. Or Nancy asks him to do it because he will do anything for her. Sometimes if he's bored he'll look into real estate law or if Nancy asks him to do it. And then also estate planning, environmental law, animal rights, business, immigration, employment, medical malpractice, and anything else a general practice attorney would do without actually ever calling himself one because he does have a specialty.
The ghostwriters were really like, "Carson Drew can do whatever the fuck he wants because he's Carson Drew" and that is fantastic.
And now you know why Nancy is the way that she is
