So, I’m rewatching the earlier episodes of season 2 of the L Word: Generation Q and I find it so infuriating that there was so much sympathy and support for Sophie and Finley from pretty much all the characters in the show (Shane telling Finley she admired her for “speaking her truth” and Micah telling Finley she’s hard not to love when she asked him if people would ever forgive her for what she did) and not enough for Dani who got completely humiliated by both Sophie’s and Finley’s actions. Most of the characters attended the wedding and saw the events unfold and no one thought to even check in with Dani. That was absolute bs. The only person that really showed any kind of genuine care or concern towards Dani following the events of the wedding was Bette (lbr Micah was hardly ever there for her which was disappointing given he’s supposed to be her best friend).

TLDR: My girl Dani deserved so much better this whole season and, if the show gets renewed for a third season, I hope she meets new people (platonically) who will genuinely care for and love her in the way she deserves to be loved.

It cannot go understated how rare and important it is to see a healthy relationship between two lesbian Middle Eastern women. Two Middle Eastern women who get to be confident and fun and sexy and a mess. In a relationship  where they’re allowed to speak Farsi to each other, where they bond over their shared culture and their culture informs who they are as people, it cannot be written out without completely altering the characters. 

Gigi and Dani are a beautiful instance of a type of representation that is more needed on television, and while it is sad that it’s still so rare, it’s something to cherish and that is absolutely needed.
