notes - im actually rlly happy w how this turned out 😭
everything used to be so good. you thought you two would get married. you thought you'd be able to tell your kids the story of you two. what happened? how did everything go to shit?
you whipped your head to the direction of your phone when you heard the notification sound. reaching over, you saw your friend invited you to a party to try and get your mind off of things. you thought about it for a bit, answering yes to her text.
you'd been sitting in a corner for the past couple hours, your friend long gone. you stood up to get another drink when you noticed him. everything stopped. the volume of the other partygoers muting. the only sounds were your heart and his laugh. mark's laugh. all you wanted to do was walk over there and apologize for what happened. to just kiss him and hold him again.
you felt yourself start to cry so you ran to the bathroom, locking the door. you collapsed, sobbing on the floor. this went on for what felt like forever, only stopping when you heard someone knocking. you faced the door, crawling over to it. "uh..are you almost done in there? i need to piss!" you heard mark yell.

freaking out you tried responding in a deep voice, "a few more minutes dude! go use a different bathroom!" you dried your face, making sure he left before unlocking the door and running out. your head was down, trying to avoid anyone who knew you. you crashed into someone, apologizing immediately. he said it was okay, realizing who you were.
"it's okay, don't- wait...y/n?" you looked up at him, tears threatening to fall from your eyes. you ran past him, straight through the front door. you booked it down the street, falling down onto some random lawn, sobbing. he tried catching up to you, seeing you on your knees.
mark reached a hand out, grabbing your shoulder lightly, trying not to scare you. "why...why were you at that party?" you wanted to vomit, to just explode! your heart felt like it was about to jump out of your chest. you turned around to answer.
you sat up in a cold sweat, a few tears falling down your cheeks. you keep having that stupid nightmare. you couldn't get over him, he filled your mind. the whole fight still fucking with you. you looked at your clock, seeing how early it was. you tried falling back asleep. starting to cry again knowing your story was officially over.
