I’ve loved him ever since I first got into anime. He was real, he had emotions no anime character had ever showed. He’s realistic and his emotions are what make him special. I wish I could go into an essay about how he is so important. I saw myself in him. And for that I am grateful that his character was made.

Armin is the first character I've been able to fully relate to in almost every single way. The capacity for curiosity, they unique way of thinking, the self-doubt, the way he shows courage. Armin is my all time favorite character because we have the same goals and mindset. Everyone thinks we are weak but we show our strength in a different way. Armin is the only character that has shown me how great people like us are.

I love pretty much everything about Armin. One thing that always stood out to me is that he’s ALWAYS trying his best! He doesn’t accept anything but the best from himself and he’s so hard on himself when there’s even a slight complication in carrying out his plans, but he’s still trying his best. Armin has this certain fire in his soul and he puts everything he has into everything he does. Sorry for rambling, I do it a lot when I talk about Armin

Armin’s second try

So, I haven’t see anyone else talk about this yet, but if you’re an Armin fan, it’s definitely worth taking a moment to appreciate.

Remember the kid in chapter 11 who stood up to the fearful men pointing their guns?

Well, this is him now:

Feel old yet?

It’s little more than a reprise. A nod to the beginning of the story, and not exactly a hard parallel to notice (he even drops his gear in that iconic way). But in a way, it’s more than that. It’s Armin’s second chance to hold his own. Because although it took strength to stand up in chapter 11, Armin was still insecure and doubting he could even make a difference. He had to be coaxed. And most importantly: he didn’t fully succeed. They were still about to execute him and the others, when Pixis stepped in.

The reprise shows his growth as a character. He takes charge of his own accord, he looks confident and holds authority. And more: given that they survived (and even became esteemed advocates for peace) I think it’s safe to say he succeeded this time.

Hell, he even claims to have been the one to kill Eren, knowing humanity needs someone to hold that role. Someone to look up to, to personify hope (which he’s fittingly also been for the SNK story all along).

Armin knew to take this role. Eren told him what was to come, told him what state the world would be in and that peace was yet to be obtained. That now it would be up to those remaining - and specifically Armin, whom he believes will be the right advocate for the future - to make the best of what is.

This time he’s also perhaps spurred on by Eren, but unlike last time, he doesn’t need convincing. He doesn’t need moral support. Armin has gained the strength and the confidence in himself to take the lead he believes in. He finally believes in himself.

(And honestly I love that for him 💅)
