Oscar felt like any time he felt happy before the current moment was a farce.

He believed that nothing that had ever happened to him could ever match the feeling of being called “baby” by you.

“No, and she said it so nicely too? Like, it was so natural.” Oscar said as he rambled about the moment with Lando. “I just gave her my jacket and she said ‘thank you, baby’ like it was the most normal thing ever”

“I mean, it’s not like she could guess that this would become your Roman Empire, right?” Lando said, laughing a bit.

“It’s not my Roman Empire. Don’t exaggerate it.” Oscar mumbled, and Lando raised his eyebrows.

“Oscar, you’ve been talking nonstop about it since midday. It’s almost four o’clock.” Lando said, crossing his arms. “At this point…”

Oscar didn’t hear what Lando said. It was probably some mockery, but it didn’t matter when you entered his line of sight.

“How can she look so good in red? Such a pretty girl.” He muttered, making Lando frown. He followed Oscar’s eyes and found you, that wore a red sweater over a black skirt.

“Hey, Y/N! Come here!” Lando called, receiving a light punch in the arm by Oscar.

“What are you doing?” He asked, whispering.

“Y/N, Oscar loved your sweater. He was just telling me all about it! What were your words…” Lando said, snapping his fingers, acting as if he was trying to remember it. “You called her something, what was it, Oscar?”

Oscar felt his whole face reddening, but still, somehow, he mustered up the courage to say it.

“Pretty girl.” He said, his voice barely above a whisper.

You smiled, tilting your head and leaning towards Oscar, planting a gentle kiss on his cheek.

“Thank you, pretty boy.” You said, almost whispering the last part, winking to Oscar before walking away.

The silence settled in between the two McLaren drivers, and Lando was clearly holding back his laughter, waiting until you were far enough away so you wouldn’t hear them.

“I’m sorry, I was a bit ahead of myself. This is your Roman Empire.”
