Morticia Addams appreciation post
She's the strong female character icon. She doesn't really show her masculine side in a lot of ways, and that's okay. She prefers the feminine, and it's cool. She's a mom with an exceptional manicure, perfect hair and makeup, an obsession with her husband, and a hobby of tending the stems of flowers. There's nothing wrong with that! She's still a feminist even if she's living the American nightmare dream. We need some strong female characters that are strong because of their inherent feminine qualities and roles.
She also doesn't complete fit this perfect housewife role. She's super sexual with her husband, whom she's devoted to and loves. We really don't get to see a lot of examples of women being sexual people in a good light in the media.
And let's not forget that she's genuinely so nice to everyone, even though she's surrounded by freaks. She didn't say a word about the spit tissue and Margaret. She's a stronger woman than I'll ever be.
She takes so much pride in her children and family, you can tell how much she adores them when she talks. And let's not forget that she's a mom that's raising an empowered woman. She's teaching Wednesday about great women in their ancestry, encouraging her to get an education and enslave men, and really be herself. I wish my mom encouraged me to do any one of those things.
Seriously this woman is as flawless as her makeup.
