I never officially made the announcement that I had left this blog but I think I owe it to my followers to close this book officially.
I still love Marvel and Stucky but nowhere near to the same extent. I didn’t talk about it while on this blog but I am autistic, Marvel was a hyperfixation. I was obsessed, this is what my autism does to me. I cycle through different fandoms centring my life around them for months before moving on.
Currently I am very active within the Formula One community. I will not be rebranding my blog to that. I am leaving it here with Stucky like I did with previous accounts for previous fandoms.
I had some of the best times here and I appreciate the chance to be apart of such a community. Who knows maybe one day I’ll come full circle and be back to Marvel again. I wish each of you all the best. -Lucas

the other avengers watching steve and bucky and being starkly reminded that they were best friends before they were lovers. watching the way steve will lean over and whisper something in bucky’s ear— light gossip that has bucky snorting and whispering something imperceptible back. the little glances they share during conversations or gatherings where it’s entirely evident that they’re thinking the exact same thing. saying something at the same time, or moving in similar ways that is only born out of years of knowing someone so well they become an extension of you. just. steve and bucky being best friends. and others noticing

At least if he’s going to die for real this time, it’ll be by Bucky’s hand. It’s not the way that he would’ve said he wanted to go out, but he’d be lying if he said that he’s never wanted to die. Isn’t that what brought him down the first time? Even Bucky’s left palm will be warmer than the ice when it lands the last blow, though the delirious part of Steve brain that’s busy being warped by the physical pain rather than the grief that he’s finally let the floodgates open on floats an image to the surface of what Steve feels would be a more fitting way to die.
Bucky’s hand is already right there on his chest, resting over top of the star that’s marked the center of every single Captain America uniform Steve has ever worn. Is there blood on the star? Steve can’t see, but he knows from experience there doesn’t need to be. This’ll be his second time dying while wearing this uniform. That might be enough to make the damn thing unlucky. The museum might not even want it back— but who is Steve kidding? Of course they will. The world has always been desperate for the tangible evidence of his suffering. They’re lying when they say no one cares for unhappy endings. All Steve’s tragedies were included in those exhibits. Those were the parts people stopped to ogle at the most.
He’d give it a month before the museum takes back the uniform. Maybe they’ll even put a new plaque underneath it to explain the damage caused by Bucky’s bullets and what else Steve is envisioning him doing at the moment.
It plays through his mind like a fever dream, leaving Steve to hazily wonder what it would really take for Bucky to reach inside and rip his heart right out.
The metal hand is strong, strong enough to crush through blood and bone. It could do it. Steve almost wants it to, but he’s already made his choice to die. Choosing how he dies wasn’t part of that, so even if Bucky chooses to wrap his hand around Steve’s throat or pull out another knife, Steve isn’t going to fight back. He’s done fighting. It’s just that he has no use for his heart left, now that this battle is reaching its end. He hasn’t had a use for it since 1945, but the rest of his body seemed like it was worth something to the rest of the world.
He’s just saved the world, though, so if there was ever a time to be selfish— it’s now. Then again, is it selfish? To want Bucky to take his heart? To want to give it to him?
It’s symbolic. There’s enough blood seeping out from the wounds in Steve’s stomach for him to know that Bucky likely won’t even need to lift another finger. Is that why his hand is still sitting there? Can he feel Steve’s heartbeat fading away?
There’s nothing left to do, or say. Steve is content for his last words to have been ones that Bucky said first. Bucky might not take his heart, but he doesn’t need to, symbolically or not. Steve’s heart has always belonged to him anyway.
