That is a really interesting headcanon! I also like to headcanon Ron and Harry as Bi but that's the first time I've seen someone headcanon Hermione as a Demisexual! I think it fits pretty well!

My eternal headcanon for Harmony proposal is during national Quidditch match. After Harry catches the Golden Snitch, he charms it to fly towards Hermione to crack open and reveal the ring inside. She runs on the field to give an answer with a kiss. I can't imagine it happen any other way. "Congratulations on winning my heart forever, Hermione."

Harry and Hermione are capable of reading each other's thoughts.

Here's an example from OOTP:

'Listen,' he whispered, 'can yeh come with me? Now? While ev'ryone's watchin' the match?'

'Er ... can't it wait, Hagrid?' asked Harry. 'Till the match is over?'

'No,' said Hagrid. 'No, Harry, it's gotta be now ... while ev'ryone's lookin' the other way ... please?'

Hagrid's nose was gently dripping blood. His eyes were both blackened. Harry had not seen him this close-up since his return to the school; he looked utterly woebegone.

'Course,' said Harry at once, 'course we'll come.'

He and Hermione edged back along their row of seats, causing much grumbling among the students who had to stand up for them.

Harry knows that Hermione would agree to accompany him as well. He's making a decision for both of them.

Note that he isn't bothering to ask for her opinion.

"Will you come?"

"Of course we will." (Translation: "I know Hermione so well that I'm sure she'd agree. I don't even have to ask her.").

Wow

And she doesn't even protest or try to explain that she'd go with them after Ron's match.

But we aren't done yet.

'Look, I wouldn' be tellin' yer this at all if I didn' have ter. See, if I go ... well, I can' leave withou' ... withou' tellin' someone ... because I'll--I'll need yeh two ter help me. An' Ron, if he's willin'.'

'Of course we'll help you,' said Harry at once. 'What do you want us to do?'

Again, Hermione doesn't argue. Harry's not someone who'd force his best friends to do something if they're unwilling.

So, the take-away is that is he'd interpreted her thoughts correctly.

'Yeh'll do it, then?' said Hagrid, who did not seem to have caught what Harry had just said.

'We'll ...' said Harry, already bound by his promise. 'We'll try, Hagrid.'

She's clearly afraid of Grawp.

Harry's obviously aware of that.

And yet he somehow seems to know that Hermione would agree to help Hagrid.

Also, it was NOT Hermione who promised. She could've backed off any time.

You can argue that she just didn't want to upset Hagrid. However, what happens once they're out of earshot? Does she blame Harry for making a rash decision and dragging her into this?

Nope.

'I don't believe him,' said Hermione in a very unsteady voice, the moment they were out of earshot of Hagrid. 'I don't believe him. I really don't believe him.'

'Calm down,' said Harry.

'Calm down!' she said feverishly. 'A giant! A giant in the Forest! And we're supposed to give him English lessons! Always assuming, of course, we can get past the herd of murderous centaurs on the way in and out! I--don't--believe-- him!'

Hermione's mad at Hagrid but not at Harry. She considers it her obligation to look after Grawp, though it was Harry (and not herself) who was bound by the promise.

'Well, you're just going to have to break your promise, that's all,' said Ron firmly. 'I mean, come on ... we've got exams and we're about that far--' he held up his hand to show thumb and forefinger almost touching '--from being chucked out as it is. And anyway ... remember Norbert? Remember Aragog? Have we ever come off better for mixing with any of Hagrid's monster mates?'

'I know, it's just that--we promised,' said Hermione in a small voice.

I suppose you can claim that Hermione just respected Harry's opinion, but given that we have other passages where they've been able to read other's thoughts, it doesn't seem unlikely.

Doesn't the claim by Canon shippers ("Harry and Hermione have NO chemistry in the books") seem ridiculous now?

I don't think all of my fellow Harmonians are toxic and hateful. Unfortunately, there really are some who truly hate Ron and Ginny and will do anything to spite Ron/Hermione and Harry/Ginny shippers but I don't think that number is nearly as high as 99%! I've met many Harmonians who are respectful and nice. And I'm hoping that the number of those people will increase!

You can end the hatred between the two factions.

It can't be done by me alone, we will all have to participate in this and encourage each other to be more respectful and tolerant. But any person who will contribute to our attempts to stop this strange "ship war" will be important and appreciated. :)

Hi im a Romione shipper and I applaud your unbiased friendly efforts. You have even softened my views on HHr's friendship. We may have different opinions, but im glad to see a Harmony shipper who weirdly even ships Romione and Hinny at the same and loves Ron and Ginny. I think the animosity between RHr vs HHr vs HG can decrease if canon shippers stop being closeminded and HHr shippers stop bashing OBHWF guys. I would love your essays on HG and Rhr too. That'll bring both sides closer. Kudos!

I think it's better that the Harry/Hermione space and the book-loving anti-fanon majority remain seperate. It's the best way for both factions.

I strongly disagree. Anyone should be able to enjoy the wonderful series that is Harry Potter without having to ship Romione/Hinny and be anti-Harmione/Dramione/Fremione/Fleurmione. I want to talk about my favorite characters, my favorite storylines, I want to criticize the films but I don't want to see people invalidate me and my fellow Harmione shippers. It's simply unfair. Ship wars are awful but they happen all the time and there's not much we can do to stop them but they shouldn't be affecting our overall fandom experience. If I want to join the fandom and get a proper experience I have to sacrifice my self-esteem and sense of self value because I'll have to accept people insulting H/Hr shippers and dehumanizing us and that includes me. If I choose to stay in H/Hr-only spaces, I'll have to sacrifice my fandom experience. How is any of this in any way "best" for me? Sure, pro-canon and anti-H/Hr shippers will be happy, they won't have to isolate themselves from the "main" fandom to enjoy their ships but how about the rest who simply won't be able to enjoy Harry Potter and discussions like everyone else because they ship something that no one tolerates?? No, that is not the best for me.

Anyway, I really hope you can understand where I'm coming from! I think my experience is valid and I hope you can agree with me. Have a wonderful day. :)

i’m listening to goblet of fire and i just got rly emotional because of this moment in chapter 18 i’d completely forgotten about:

harry’s feeling miserable here and he doesn’t even want to leave the common room. ron doesn’t believe him and he hasn’t even seen hermione since his name was called. yet the next morning she’s there for him with exactly what he needs. she didn’t even have to see him first to know how he’s feeling!!!

it’s such a small moment but it’s so important. ron gets a lot of love for being an amazing friend to harry, but we don’t talk enough about how great of a friend hermione is. 10/10 would die for a friend like her

Also there's literally a point when Harry thinks of Ginny as a sister but he still realizes that they aren't actually like siblings and years later they got married. So. Um.

Harry lay awake for a long time, looking up at the canopy of his four-poster and trying to convince himself that his feelings for Ginny were entirely elder brotherly. They had lived, had they not, like brother and sister all summer, playing Quidditch, teasing Ron, and having a laugh about Bill and Phlegm? He had known Ginny for years now. . . . It was natural that he should feel protective . . . natural that he should want to look out for her . . . want to rip Dean limb from limb for kissing her . . . No . . . he would have to control that particular brotherly feeling. . . .

Now obviously in this scene Harry is trying to convince himself that he is only feeling protective of Ginny like a brother while really he is jealous because of his attraction to her. But this "brotherly feelings" business comes from somewhere. Which is that previous summer. Back in summer Harry sincerely thought that Ginny was like a sister he never had. But now that he's feeling differently he's trying to bring up the old feelings and pretend they haven't changed.

Regardless of how Harry feels in this particular scene, he did actually consider Ginny his sister during the previous summer (and probably all his life) which is fair because the Weasleys were like a family he never had.

Yet later he developed a crush on her, fell in love with her, married her and had kids.

So people's feelings and perceptions of others can change over time! It shouldn't be a surprise but apparently to some people it is.

I don't understand why people ship Ronarry! I mean look they are BROTHERS!! The ship is almost an incest. Not to mention the fact that u ship James x Sirius! The ships ARE.INCEST!! They are best friends/brothers! Then why the fuck do u ship em!

who said they're like brothers 🤨 for james and sirius, mcgonagall thought they were like brothers. for ron and harry, that's what fandom says. i want you to show me where exactly ron/harry or james/sirius said they think of each other as brothers rn thank you

The "siblings" thing is stupid. It's just people saying "ugh let people be friends without shipping them!1!1!!1" but adding the "siblings" element just because that way shipping it sounds illegal.

Like- How do you see every single healthy relationship as familial? Please... Just because two people can get along well and care about each other doesn't mean they're automatically siblings and shipping them makes you an incest supporter.

People really need to normalize caring and supportive relationships.
