missing lotg (and Leo<3), I hope everything is okay with you!!!
Hello! It’s always missing LOTG hours, isn’t it 😔
I’m doing okay! I’m very busy though. My new job, which I started in February, is absolutely incredible. I love what I do now and it’s going to be a great career, but I’m still very new and the schedule is hectic. It’s also very draining! The hours are very long and I don’t have much time to myself. I miss writing so much, and I miss the community even more, but I can’t promise a game update anytime soon.
That being said, I’m always thinking about TLOTG even if I can’t write much for it right now. It’s not a dead project! It’s just hibernating. Anyone that has been around for a while knows that I’m in for the long haul and updates aren’t often. I love the little check-ins you guys send me, it’s so relieving to see that people love this project as much as I do even with so little content at the moment.
So thank you all, it’s nice to chat! Asks are always welcome, I read and appreciate them all. ❤

Hello, as a long time lurker (who finally got around making a tumblr account), I just wanted to say hi ! I loved the new demo, the new characters are so intriguing, and mainly, I hope you are doing okay !
With that, I hope you have a nice day/evening/night ! :D
Hello! It’s nice to see thoughts about the new demo, I think adding the Naturalist into the story early as opposed to doing it in the second book definitely raised the stakes, and it was so fun to add their perspective. Plus, I absolutely love Fin and it was fun to formally introduce them. :)
Thank you for the sweet ask!

I thiiink it was on the patreon, there was that short game abt mc leo eli warren in high school? I just loved that so much and I was wondering if we could possibly still play it? (hopefully this isn’t a dumb question lol)
i love your characters and writing hope ur doing well!
This ask is very old, but I wanted to say that the high school side story is posted on Itch.io! There’s a separate entry for the side stories specifically. Right now there’s the first day of high school and Mother’s Day based on the Seer’s side of things. I plan to add some Naturalist side stories eventually, too!
The link for both of them is here:

Hello author ! I hope you're doing well ! Since it's quite cold where I'm living, I had a thought : are the ros the kind of persons to snowball fight ? Are they good at it ?
It just snowed last week where I live, and it got me thinking about this ask again, so here you go! :)
Leo was absolutely terrorized by their older siblings throughout their childhood; they always enjoy a snowball fight with their friends and family, and they are frighteningly good at it. They do have a soft spot for their younger siblings and Seer, though, and there have been times when that group teams up to take them down.
Eli is an unwilling participant, but they don’t go down easy. They could melt the entire area if they wanted to, but it is more fun to get a few shots in at Warren and Leo before they start to melt anything that comes within range. Then Warren likes to see how much he can pelt at them before he gets a hit.
Warren loves a good snowball fight and will often be the first one to initiate it. Wyatt loves playing with him because he doesn’t hold back as much as Leo and Eli would, which often results in Leo taking Warren down fairly quickly. He finds it hilarious, though, and even Leo grins as they pack the next snowball together.
Fin enjoys a good snowball fight, but they enjoy the surprise much better. They will spend their entire day trying to sneak up and aim a snowball at the Naturalist’s back, with fair results. You can best believe they will throw a snowball at the Seer and laugh when it makes contact; it’s far easier when your target can’t sense your adrenaline rushing through your veins.
Ambrose used to love the snowball fights he had with his sister when they were young. Now, it’s a little harder to get him to loosen up and enjoy himself, but he still has the same terrible skills that let his sister win all the time as kids.
Luna hates the cold, and she hates being pelted with snowballs just as much. She will always take the chance to pack one together and throw it at the back of Warren’s head, though. She has impeccable aim, but not as much endurance as her preferred targets...
Jules also hates the cold, and prefers to be wearing a wool coat and watching from the sidelines. They will jump in to help the losing side, though, and that’s when the game takes a turn for war. He likes to stay warm and dry, but he likes the look of shock and outrage he gets when he joins just as much.
Hazel loves the snow, and she loves snowball fights just as much. She doesn’t get cold or tired easily, and she’s often the last one standing in the wake of chaos. She isn’t the best when it comes to aim, and sometimes her snowballs fall apart midair, but she still loves it.
Faye prefers other snowsports, like sledding or skating, but she doesn’t argue when it comes to snowball fights. She just picks up a pile of snow, and it’s every man for themselves. She doesn’t hold back on anyone, though she often makes an alliance with someone and they become a strong opponent duo.
Bonus: In a fight out of all of them, I think it would be a very close match between Leo, Hazel, and Jules. Depending on who was involved, it could easily go to any of them.

Happy new (and late) year ! I hope it will be kind toward you ❤️❤️
Hello! I’ve been getting some very kind and concerned asks in the past months, so I figured I would actually check in with you guys.
First: happy new year! It’s been a chaotic one so far, but I’m doing okay. I’ve recently switched careers so all my free time is dedicated to simply existing at this point. That being said, I’m too stubborn to give up on this little game, so yes, I am still active (just not as much). I’m taking my time fleshing out the scenes and characters as much as I want, but it’s worth it.
Second: as for an actual game update… I have no idea when! I’m still working on the branches for the Seer, but I do have the Naturalist’s route properly sketched out and drafted, so hopefully it will be faster to finish. I would also like to set up a separate version for my playtesters to debug before I post it publicly. Also, I’m not entirely sure how the save system will work? It’s going to be a little experiment to worry about later.
But yeah, I’m okay. I’m still here. Those that have been here a while know I vanish for a little bit once in a while, but I do always come back. I really appreciate all the sweet messages of support, it’s so encouraging to see that you guys love this game as much as I do. I love you guys so much, and I promise I’m going to give you this next chapter and it will be worth the wait. I’ll even include a little sneak peek, as a treat. :)

Hello! In the past I’ve kept it to the imagination with few exceptions, but I don’t mind sharing some reference photos/face claims for now. I kept them under the cut for those who have their own mental image. :)
Leo: They don’t have a particular FC, but it’s been mentioned that they remind people of Chad (Corbin Bleu) from High School Musical, which I sort of agree with. :) I just picture fluffy dark curls, the sweetest dark eyes, and a kind smile.
Eli: No one in particular, honestly. They just popped into my head and never left. I just imagine obnoxiously bright teal hair, an often over-exaggerated scowl, and the type of intimidating stare that makes people look away.
Warren: His FC is apparently hard to narrow down. I’ve used the same picture of Darwin Gray for years now, even before TLOTG became an IF. Someone in the Discord mentioned a young Rob Lowe, which is ALSO very good, specifically this picture. Just imagine the bluest eyes you’ve ever seen and ink-dark hair, and that’s how I write him.
Fin: I was discussing this with my dear friend Mars a while back, but I imagine them to look like the Brazilian model Fernanda Oliveira. The curly dark hair, the soft round face, the fathomless dark eyes. It all fits so well.
Ambrose: Again, no specific FC. I just imagine a very angelic appearance with golden hair and dark eyes paired with Do Not Fuck With Me vibes.
Luna: I specifically like this photo with the blonde highlights, but I picture her to be a more buff version of the gymnast Laurie Hernandez.
Jules: No FC, the vibes are based purely on their imposing height/build, the quarter-sized scar on his temple, and the iconic vampiric eyes.
Faye: No FC, she’s just a bright shining star in my mind. Just a heart-winning smile, intricately braided dark hair, and a siren’s voice cut through with a banshee’s scream.
Hazel: No FC, but she’s very tall/built sturdy, she has a commanding voice, and her confidence as a human cannot compare to the grace that her werewolf form possesses.

My seer (MC) - Samantha. Cunning smile, calm demeanour and is ready to see her family again.
The first sketch was drawn at the beginning of 2022. It’s kinda nice to see my small progress in my art style.
@lureofthegallowsgame sorry for your loss. Hope those little drawings cheer you up a little.

Hello dear author, I allow myself to send an ask because it's been a little while since we heard of you, and I think everyone is getting kind of worried around here 😅 Of course if it's a personal life matter you don't owe us anything, but I sincerely hope you are alright ! Please stay hydrated and take care of yourself ❤️ and have a nice day !
Hello! I am notoriously bad at keeping you all updated 😔 I always appreciate the nice little check-ins! Especially when I miss the little game updates I plan on posting.
The truth is that I am alive and mostly well-hydrated! I just severely underestimated the grief process. I lost my father in late August, and I figured that I could distract myself with writing and ignore my feelings. Which obviously doesn’t work, and I do not recommend it! I’ve been spending the past two months in a blur since his death, and I find it hard to be creative when I’m living like this. Especially when I am writing a game that heavily remarks upon the grief process of suddenly losing your parent(s).
I’m writing all of this to say that I don’t know when the next update will be. I can only manage a sentence or two every other day or so. I get easily frustrated. I get upset with myself. I am navigating a minefield every time I open the document and stare at the blank screen.
I adore this community so very much, and I have been emotionally invested in this game since 2018. I will finish it, and it will be awesome. But I am also just a guy struggling to manage day-to-day life, never mind writing a fictional one with characters that feel just as blindsided and lost as I do some days.
Thank you for the very kind messages checking in on me, and any well-wishes I might get by posting this depressing update. As I said, I am committed to this game, and I am endlessly surprised and reassured by the amount of support I have been given in the past four years. You guys are amazing, and I love you all very much. ❤

Hi! I have been periodically checking in and must have missed something because there are two MCs but I don't remember that being the case at first? Or maybe I'm forgetting. Anyway, does that mean the POVs switch occasionally, or do you choose one MC and have that MC for the whole game?
Hello! You aren’t seeing things, I added the Naturalist when I imported the game to Twine. They were the protagonist for the second game, and I was planning to merge their POV with the Seer’s in the third game.
Since I merged the entire series into one game, however, I decided to merge them together at the beginning for better readability. The POVs will switch each chapter - much like the prologue when it goes from the Seer to the Naturalist - and there may be times when one MC has an entire chapter to themself due to… reasons. 😌 I hope to make the POV change clear by distinguishing the setting and narrative voices so when our protagonists meet in the third act it isn’t too confusing.
I hope that makes sense! I also will accept any feedback about how the POV switch is working! Is it too confusing? Would it be better to try and adjust the layout/transitions/etc to distinguish them better? Let me know.

Hello!
I wanted to ask about your game (I'm loving it and the characters so much so far and can't wait for more), is the Twine demo the only place to "play"/"read" through it? From the asks that I've seen on this account it seems like there is more story available? I have seen you uploaded the short stories from your Patreon, but other than those I can't find anything else and I am a little confused.
Apologies if the answer to this is obvious, and thank you for your time!
Hello! There are technically three versions of the game.
First: the Dashingdon demo. This is the original demo, which covers up to the first five chapters of the first game. Note that this version is different than the newest demo, particularly because it lacks the Naturalist entirely and the narrative will have scene changes going forward.
Second: the Twine version. This is self-explainatory.
Third: the Patreon demo. This covered the original demo up to seven chapters, and it’s currently unavailable. Maybe in the future I will release it to play just for fun, but for now it’s being kept in my drafts. There are people who have played it and they know more about the plot than most, but honestly, the story is changing the more I rewrite it for Twine. So like I said, I might release it later on for those curious, but for now it was just a Patreon special.

Ooooh since you still take prompts, may i request the prompt { cook . present my muse with home - cooked food} for the fin/ambrose/naturalist poly? Let me tell you that i INSTANTLY fell head over heels with them after reading the new demo😩
Hello! I’m glad they made such an impression on you. More chaos awaits with those three specifically. 😌
It was a relief to finally stand and stretch. I popped my back and sighed, taking care to flex away the tingling ache in my fingertips. The rumbling static of life - steady heartbeats and constant breathing - faded back down into its dull roar. It was as much relief as I could get lately.
“Are you hungry?” I asked Ambrose, shrugging on my jacket. The half-light played across his profile in soft contrast to the glare he leveled my way. He looked tired; the dark bruises underneath his eyes were a steadfast witness to our sleepless nights. I figured that my eyes weren’t looking much better, either.
“It’s still early,” he pointed out. He didn’t look inclined to move from his position against the windowsill, his shoulder stubbornly propped up against the wall.
“Not too early for dinner,” I corrected. “Fin mentioned cooking something tonight…”
That got his attention. He paused to survey the street below. Nothing worth our time was down there, I knew. Maybe a few straggler kids late getting home, or some people walking home from work. There were no dangerous supernaturals that needed to be neutralized.
Which meant there were no excuses for Ambrose to cling to.
“Fine,” he finally said. I turned around to hide my smile, though I could still feel his exasperated expression aimed at my back.
By the time we made it back to the rental, the kitchen was warm and fragrant with a familiar sense of comfort. I could tell the second we stepped through the front door, paired with the steady pulse of Fin’s heartbeat. Like truly coming home.
“No way,” I laughed, kicking off my shoes in the foyer. Ambrose pointedly nudged them to the side and slipped his shoes off beside mine. I called to the kitchen, “You finally got your mom’s recipe?”
“No way!” Fin called back. They appeared in the kitchen doorway with a sly grin, wiping their hands off on their jeans. The fabric was smudged with flour, but Fin didn’t seem concerned in the slightest. “I had to bribe my cousins for it.”
“What did you bribe them with this time?” Ambrose sighed. As long-suffering as he sounded, he was the first one to step forward and accept Fin’s greeting kiss, reaching up to cup Fin’s chin and wipe away a smudge of red. When they pulled apart, he frowned at his fingers. “Is this sauce?”
“Tomato,” Fin confirmed. They pulled Ambrose into the kitchen by his sleeve, and I followed with a laugh.
“You don’t have to wear half the ingredients when you cook,” Ambrose muttered. He groaned when he saw the destructive state of the kitchen. “Did anything even make it into the pan, Finley?”
“Porra, you complain a lot for someone who’s about to eat the food of the gods,” Fin shot back. They gestured to the table; our place settings were carefully arranged around a deep dish pan, still steaming from being pulled out of the oven. “Behold, ladies and gentlemen, because you’re standing in the presence of empadão de frango.”
“An honor,“ I said solemnly. Even Ambrose, still caught in Fin’s grip, couldn’t fight back the slightest twitch of his mouth.
“Yes,“ Ambrose said, his eyes lingering on Fin’s pleased look. “It’s an honor to be here.“

hmmm i feel like it's the naturalist only bc the emphasis on their senses
This ask refers to this prompt, and you would be right! 😌 The Naturalist definitely uses their sense of the environment more than the Seer does.

Sorry if this is stupid, but Fin is half-Brazilian half- what?
Hello! I see what you’re trying to say, although my answer might not be exciting. Fin is Brazilian-American, technically. Their father’s side is an example of a typical American mixing pot: it includes European ancestry, so something like British, German, French, etc. Their surname, Ramsey, is Scottish if that helps!

Update 8/31/22
Hello, everyone!
This is just a little update because I wanted to mention a few things.
First things first, the game is officially turning four! I originally posted the Dashingdon demo on September 1, 2018, and here we are today. :) Younger me would be absolutely appalled at the amount of support my silly little game has. I’ve grown as a writer since then, and the game has grown with me. So thank you all for being there with me! We still have some ways to go but I am looking forward to it.
Second, to celebrate the anniversary, I have transferred the Patreon side stories to Twine, which you can play here. There are three stories at the moment, with the potential for more during special events. I eventually want to write the Naturalist’s past, but I have to be wary of spoilers, of course. If I add any more stories, I will absolutely update you all here!
Third, the next game update is planned for late September. I’m thinking either the 18th or the 25th, depending on how the month goes. There was recently a death in my family, so I’m taking progress slow. I’m excited to share the update though! I’ve made some edits to Seer’s side and the Naturalist is beginning their own journey. :)
As always, thank you guys for the support! You are all seriously the best. ❤

hello! i hope youre doing well! 1) i wanted to share how EXCITED i am to have this story back and about this new direction. because i am VERY excited!! 2) are you still accepting prompts from the prompt list? if soooo, can i please have eli/warren/mc (either one!) with lay please? thanks! :-D
Hello! Thank you for playing, I’m so excited to share the story with you all, the encouragement makes my day honestly.
I always accept prompts! I just can’t guarantee a quick answer. But let’s see if you can guess which MC I chose for this one…
The back of my mouth fizzled with ozone in silent warning before I felt his hand lay on the back of my neck. Warm and sturdy. Grounding, even as the world struggled to swim back into focus.
I opened my eyes to near darkness. I was standing in front of the window, my hands braced on the sill for balance. The streetlights glimmered gently below; the moon was half-hidden by a passing dark cloud. It was late at night, maybe even early morning. There were two beings in the room with me, and my attention narrowed in on them.
I found Eli first, their mind surrendered into a deep sleep. It was a dreamless state; their breathing was steady and slow. Unaware that they were alone in bed now that there were two of us standing at the window.
Even half-dazed, I knew him instantly. Warren, breathing softly at my back, his warmth radiating out to me. Like the sun calling for Icarus. I leaned back into the touch, falling back in a strangely familiar sense, and released a shaking breath.
“Sorry for waking you up,” I murmured. I stared out at the moon, its light now shining brilliantly. A beacon calling from the dark. It was tempting in a way that made me nauseous.
“I’m sorry you couldn’t stay asleep,” Warren said. His voice was rough from sleep, edged with that familiar worry. “Are you alright?”
No.
“Yeah. Is it late?”
I felt his noncommittal shrug, then there was a pause. A brief, uncharacteristic hesitation, before his hand slipped from the nape of my neck to my shoulder.
“Not too late to go back to sleep,” he offered. It was tempting. My mind was aching in another vicious migraine, crushing my temples in a vice grip. The moon was too bright, now. I could feel Warren’s other hand clasp my shoulder, guiding me to the bed in slow steps. When had my eyes closed?
The world pitched and settled as I curled up underneath the covers, burrowing my head into the forgotten warmth of my pillow. Eli shifted and mumbled a half-hearted complaint before shifting around to curl around me, burying their nose against the crown of my head.
I felt Warren settle in against my back. The covers rustled as he carefully covered us all, the weight keeping me secure. I waited for his breathing to slow down into sleep, counting his heartbeats until I gave into the call of slumber myself.
