While they chiefly use commands for battle scenarios since that's when they're most relevant, they occasionally use them outside of battle just if they want to ensure the beasts do something as they need them to do. In this case, they're just trying to make sure that Susie is following Kris's direction for this and doesn't get too careless.

And yeah, bit of a pause there to think out the right command, but also because, y'know, they know they're going to get swallowed and are naturally going to hesitate a little with that!

So I have a couple of lore questions related to Eldritch!Noelle

Is her sister Dess alive? If so, did Kris knew her since they responded when she ask them about Mayor Holiday?

Well, Dess was the first one to be sacrificed, so signs point towards no on that!

And Kris wouldn't have known her very well, if at all, since they were adopted as a teen rather than as a little kid. Asriel would have known Dess, though.

If EldritchRune takes place several hundred years in the past, would part of why Kris was ostracized in Hometown be because of their unconventional gender identity?

It might be a part of it, but I wouldn't say it's the only part, or even a large one. Certainly at least the Dreemurrs respected their identity and used they/them pronouns for them, as in canon. I think the cultural apprehension towards Kris would be more a larger feeling centered around their poverty, appearance and behavior.

love eldritchrune and your takes on these characters. ralsei and noelle especially!! i wanna do some fanart, but i need to know: if eldritchrune were a game, what sort of era would it be? i’ve pictured it as either an early ps1 pixel rpg, or a soulslike but i want to what youd think itd be.

And hmm, that's a good question...while I'm sure most would go with Soulslike, I actually think the monster sprites from like FFVI would be a pretty good fit, so yeah early PS1 pixel sort of stuff going on!

How do you deal with people constantly comparing your work to another more popular one even though they’re are no real similarities. They just want to see you fail.

You can't always control how people will react to your work...all you can do is put out the work that you, personally, want to do. If you don't think there's any real similarities between your work and another one, then it doesn't sound like those arguments are being made in good faith, and you can put them aside. And if you do worry about that, it never hurts to keep going on your own project...the more you do to develop your own ideas and your own style, the more distinct you'll find yourself from your inspirations or points of comparison. And the only way to develop your own style is to keep on with your work!

Not anytime soon, I'm afraid. I don't have any specific ideas I'd like to do with them right now, and the Queen boss battle was pretty time-consuming to draw, so I'd like to focus on some other scenes for awhile.

Heehee, I'm glad that you had fun figuring out all of the commands! Now I'm sure everyone will be able to figure out much easier what Kris is asking with them!

And with the item command, yeah, that command was closest to what Kris was asking. The commands can cover a lot of concepts: so "item" can mean "consume an item," or "stop and recover," or "use this object," or "try to heal," etc. "Attack" and "Act" commands are both too risky for Kris there, so something under the use item/recover command is the best option for "swallow me safely."

Weirdly enough I could see Spade King in Eldritchrune attempting to convince kris the same way queen did. He is malice and contempt, both of which kris certainly feels for their family at the moment.

King might attempt it a bit with Kris, but I can also see him having less patience for manipulation than Queen does. If Kris doesn't buy into what he's selling quickly enough, he'll just get to attacking even more.

Since it’s gonna be awhile until we get chapter 3 (or it might even come unannounced next week since TobyFox rolls like that), I’m going to guess that we’ll see ER Kris fighting Spade King, Jevil, and Spamton before we see them recruiting any other monsters.

My guess right now is that we'll be getting chapters three and four sometime in the fall of this year.

But that said...yeah, it's real tough to work out what to do for any post-chapter two scenes, and if I should stick with what we have now or just charge forward! Since I've been tackling scenes just as I want to do them, not sure yet how I'd do anything with more bosses...especially since the boss battle was pretty time-consuming to draw!

In any case, next comic we'll be going back to check on some characters in the light world anyway!

I'm not sure which face you're referring to, but I'm assuming it's the one where Chara does say a similar line! And yeah, they're being a bit cheeky there!
