If this is tumblr's layout moving forward, I am almost certainly quitting the site. I don't understand how @staff can say that the site is too confusing for users and then?? completely reverse the layout they've been using for years. I don't see what the purpose of this is other than to alienate users who have been on the site for years.
Can I get used to this layout? Yeah, probably. Do I want to stay on and support a site that is clearly going through an identity crisis without care or consideration for it's users or what made it unique in the first place? No.
I'm also @macgargan over on cohost, and I'm probably going to explore migrating over there. I would rather learn to use a new website than stay on a site that could radically change over night with no rhyme or reason.

Having re-read Spider-Man 2099... I gotta say I hate Father Jennifer AND Gabe as the Goblin. I can see the textual clues that pointed to Jen being the Goblin, but... it doesn't make sense.
Aesthetically, the Goblin borrows very heavily from Gabriel's aesthetic. Not only because the bumps on it's head mimic the glasses he's always wearing, but because the trail of light left behind him when he flies, and fire feel like homages to the Firelight persona. We also don't get a good explanation of where she could have gotten the suit from, or why a devout priest chose a demon as her anti-hero persona.
Gabe having a character arc of becoming so fed up with Miguel and Spider-man that he tries to take on a hero persona of his own makes more sense. The aesthetic fits him, and he has enough technical know how displayed to explain how he could make the suit himself. But all of Goblin's lines prior to David's departure were written for Jen, and it shows if you pick it apart.
Also like??? What was up with Gabe thinking he was dreaming about the future end of the world?? Spider-Man 2099 is just honestly a pretty poorly written book all around, in my opinion and it's pretty unfortunate.

Blissfully forgot how racist the Spider-Man 2099 comics are.

This is genuinely all I ever wanted out of comics after seeing Mac and Miles interact in Absolute Carnage. I'm feasting.

It's so much funnier if you interpret the third panel as Mac getting so excited he started wagging his tail and accidentally broke the machine.

First Knives in Stampede, now Miguel in Spider-Verse. How many times does the monkey's paw curl.

Finally saw Spider-Verse 2. It's a solid movie but some of the characterization is distracting.
Pavitr is so good tho. I love him...

Haven't seen Spider-Verse 2 yet, and I won't be able to until Saturday, so I'm just thinking about Spider-Man 2099. I think the Father Jennifer retcon is probably the second worst thing Peter David has ever inflicted on me.

If you are, on the off chance, exploring my blog because my Black Ant & Taskmaster post got reblogged again, please disregard my last post and do not perceive it. Thanks!

I'm not afraid to admit it: I used to fantasize about breathing for Dr. Dala at the Big MT.

Hi!! I recently caught up with Miles Morales #1-6 and Carnage Reigns: Alpha, and in the latest couple issues I was really really impressed with how Ziglar writes Mac! It was actually super satisfying to see and he's the first writer in forever who actually seems invested in driving Mac's story forward in tandem with Miles.
Out of curiosity, have you read it yourself? Do you have any thoughts?
I have been keeping up with Mac & Miles' journey, and I'm tentatively invested! Ever since Absolute Carnage, I've thought it would be nice to see Mac & Miles in exactly the sort of relationship they're building up currently with Carnage Reigns and Miles Morales, so it's been a treat to read.
This whole exchange, for example, just feels so right for how I want to see Mac as a character act.

That being said, comics giveth and they taketh away, especially Spider-Man comics. I'm not expecting this to have any sort of satisfying conclusion or to stay consistent, but I'm enjoying the ride while it lasts.
