I don’t know if they focus on making people cry. There are some amazing stories, but there is some amount of cost to them, especially the newer ones. But there are a lot you can get for like $4. And then the do have deals or bundles or something that can make it a little cheaper too.

I’ve listened mainly to all the ones with Charley Pollard as a companion, and those ones don’t just make you cry, they will give you an existential crisis.

i don't personally Big Finish but the past... maybe year or so? of people talking about them seems to be mostly "oh you should listen to such-and-such, i cried so much!!!" so have they started prioritising writing stuff that makes people cry (maybe after a successful cryfest?) or is it all just coincidence? i must know!!!!

(i do get a bit fascinated by second-hand perceptions and fandom-osmosis stuff, idk why really.)

I’m done with the first draft of Calling Home [working title only]. 26,163 words in six part, which might be broken down to four regular chapters. I haven’t decided. It will probably depend on the final word count and where the most dramatic cliffhangers can reasonably be placed.

She was a great companion, I just wish the writers had liked her better so that more people could have seen that

I don’t think we give Martha enough credit for how gentle her exit was, for lack of a better word. She’s just gone through arguably the most traumatic year of her life with no clue as to how Leo and his family are fairing nor how the rest of her family are coping in captivity. She’s got to traverse an apocalyptic landscape without getting caught or killed, though she almost comes close, all while spreading a message for the Doctor. The Doctor who at this moment is doing very little in regards to actual legwork. And is arguably at fault for everything that’s transpired.

And yet there’s no blame in her farewell speech. She makes it clear that how he treated her wasn’t acceptable, while also stating that it’s not really about him its about her family and it’s about her. She even makes sure that she has a means of contacting him again because she knows really he shouldn’t be on his own but she also can’t be the person that stays anymore. It’s incredibly graceful and honestly more than he deserves but really just goes to show how compassionate she is

if you're a fan of the eighth doctor and i haven't personally subjected you to this yet.... yeah, imma need you to watch it, chief.

i think i've listened to this, hmm, hundreds of times. consecutively. and watched it at least dozens of times. it's such a raw portrayal of the time war and it leaves a lot to the imagination. the drums in the music? the suns setting over a dead, deserted gallifrey? yeah. brb crying-

The only one I take issue with is 13. She would open up the cookie, eat the icing exclusively by licking it off, then offer the cookie part to whoever was nearby.

I never noticed that it was a different actor. That's how basic they look.

in classic doctor who there’s a character who shows up a couple of times, the doctor’s mentor borusa. they could never get the same actor back to play him, so every time he showed up he’d just regenerated offscreen into a slightly different average-looking guy
