Thank you for sticking it out if you've been waiting for the conclusion of Chapter Five, and I'm glad you found your way here if you're a new reader!  The previous hiatus I went on lasted longer than I thought it would, mostly because I think I may have burnt myself out from working on the comic nonstop for so long.  I explored a few more stories and started developing them a bit, along with working on my writing a bit more with a few Roleplays with friends. However!  I'd like to get back to the comic now and finally complete Chapter Five!  5x25 is completed as of now and on Patreon on my $1 tier, and I am currently working on the lineart for 5x26, so things are in progress!   I'm hoping to have a small buffer ready by either the end of August or early September depending on how fast I can crank out pages twenty-six to twenty-eight.  I'm going to try to get around to the first few pages of Chapter Six too, which may take a while since they're very background/figure heavy. I might also be changing my update schedule for the time being...mostly to save my sanity.  Updates will either be every other week or once a month depending on how busy I get. This year hasn't been the best for me jobwise and I'm trying to find some stable work since my hours have been drastically cut, which means I need to devote time to job searching and potentially a new place of employment if/when that happens. Hector’s parents, ca. the early 1880s.  Catherine is something like a liaison for the Sky Navy while her husband, William, served in it for a spell before he was promoted to the rank of Admiral and in his words, “put out to pasture” to help at Command rather than continuing with commanding a ship.

Presenting the Kramer Horde, oldest to youngest!  These are about circa 1895, making the twins 13, Crispin 5, Will 3, and Catherine 1.  Aubrey and Hector Jr. (Helka insisted on the name despite Hector’s embarrassment) were part of a set of triplets, the third–Asher–dying during childbirth. 

Crispin is meant to look exactly like Asher, so it’s a bit unsettling for his parents when he was first born because he’s a carbon copy of their dead son.

William II is a chimera baby; twins merged in the womb since Helka was really ill around the time he was developing, so her body figured it best that she support one instead of two kids.  He’s sort of Hector’s silent favorite child since the two of them connected during his birth, and when Hector was recovering from his head injury.

Catherine was the second “surprise baby” after William, who was kept mostly secret from anyone outside of the family since her parents didn’t want anything bad happening to her (seeing that Hel’s mom was the reason why Asher died…she’s bad news…just sayin).

Hector and Helka would have had two more if Asher hadn’t died in childbirth and William’s twin didn’t merge with him in the womb, making the family NINE total.  Also, bonus pic of “Curtain Mom” since some people got a kick out of the unexpected discovery I made while looking up Victorian photo refs that I posted on my IG stories. XD

Surprise Baby Catherine happens pretty soon after the whole incident with Hecks’ head trauma injury; he’s v protective of Helka too since her mother always seems to try to strike at the family whenever Hel is with child, so he takes it upon himself to be her personal guard 24/7 even though they’ve already got actual soldiers as bodyguards  He sorta flops as a guard tho because the head whack causes him to tire out if he pushes himself too hard. lol  Helka does her best to help with that by using her Healing Magus on him whenever he passes out, like with here :)

Since I’ve been obsessing over them, figured I’d change things up for this Valentine’s Day (and they’re still Maelstrom-related characters, so it works LOL)! This takes place around the time when they’re getting ready to have their fifth child, shortly after Hector’s head injury involving rebels boarding Arkstern Sky Navy ships to initiate a mass attack on the fleet.  They both decided it was best to take a leave of absence from the Navy because of that huge mess, and that of course resulted in some much needed downtime and another kid. XD (Joked with my friend that Hector would say he can carry two people, then lifts up his pregnant wife.  His butler grows less and less impressed with the joke the more often he does that lol) Helka©BladeGunSniper (DeviantArt)

I guess this is an appropriate follow up pic to the previous one I posted…PLUS, AAAANGST 

This takes place after the attack on the ship and when Hector rushes home upon getting news that there were severe complications during the birth of the triplets resulting in Helka nearly dying in using her Magus to frantically try to heal the last child that ended up being stillborn. 

She was also under the impression that he was killed in combat (overhearing servants discussing the untimely death of “that poor young captain”), which sent her into early labor.  They have a pretty bittersweet reunion since they’ve got the funeral of their dead son up ahead, along with the mass funeral for those who died on Hector’s ship during the enemy attack. Drew this a while back–see: October–of Hector saying goodbye to his wife (’bout ready to have triplets) before he had to depart for probably his second to last patrol before getting the assignment to assist Colefarst with some of the fleet.  Based this off of a painting I saw on Pinterest to get some practice in with drawing backgrounds and trying to emulate the feel of the original piece
