Dolores and her new prima, Mirabel.
Whom she definitely preferred to Camilo because she was a quiet and easy-to-please baby.

For sure
I've seen people saying that Mirabel has a bit greening skirt as a reference to her similarity with Bruno
But, honestly
Tumblr media
Julieta has way more teal clothes. And I think Mirabel's color referring to her mom

Tía
Tumblr media
I don't often see these two paired in fanworks, and the idea just struck me that they'd probably get along really well. Both are fairly emotional and expressive, and as middle children probably got overlooked more than they should have. The fact that they're almost complete visual opposites is also just fun to me.
So: Tía Pepa and Luisa bonding time.
I imagine this as a little slice of life scene, both of them in their house dresses with their hair down, chatting about the day as Pepa helps Luisa do her hair for a date (and loans her a pair of flashy earrings, because Luisa should get to be fancy.) Pepa always struck me as a smoker, so she's enjoying a cigarette and gossip about Luisa's date as she works on a braid. Pepa's nightgown is one of those ancient, comfy pieces of clothing that no one is quite sure what's holding it together, and the color has worn away in places, but it's her favorite and the family will have to pry it from her cold, dead hands before she'll throw it out. Luisa's is a 20th birthday gift from Mirabel, embroidered with bright silver thread to sparkle when she moves.

Madrigal Madness - 1
Tumblr media
[Synopsis: A collection of one shots - in no particular order - surrounding the Madrigal family when the children were younger! Pure fluff and chaos!]
I finally got around to starting my one-shot collection! I am so excited for this and to write about all the fluff and the chaos that the kids cause - and the amount of hair-pulling their parents do - and I really hope you guys like them. Read chapter one on AO3 or under the cut!
Moving her baby girl back from her chest once she was asleep and using a hand to sort her undergarments, Julieta raked that same hand through her curls before pulling her sleeve up and cradling her daughter close again. She smiled when Isa mewled with contentment in her sleep, curling a small hand into her dress as she nestled in her arms, and once she was sure she was comfortable she brushed a kiss against her temple. At six months old, her hija was growing up so fast and becoming more independent by the day, but she still wouldn’t go to sleep unless she was in her arms and she didn’t mind that one bit. Quite the opposite, truly.
It was the thing that made her long days more manageable and granted her a much needed break, coming upstairs to just sit and nurse her and then stay awhile while she napped, and she cherished the time she had with her. No doubt, these moments would be so short-lived.
The door creaking open pulled her from her thoughts and she looked up from her baby girl, unable to keep from smirking at the look on her hermana’s face when she came in with her daughter on her hip. Dolores, despite her having taken her for some air to try and settle her almost an hour ago, was still very much awake. Her chubby hand was curled around the end of her braid and she was yanking on it, screeching with delight in her ear as she was clearly loving this new game, but something told her that her mamá wasn’t quite as fond of it. “Oh, hermana, come on…” She laughed while rocking Isa. “How can you be annoyed at that face?”
When she reached the rocking chair beside hers, Pepa all but fell into it and brought her hija into her lap before easing her braid carefully out of her vicelike grip. Less than pleased with her new toy being taken away, Dolores whined and was moments away from screaming the house down before Julieta reached out and tickled her under her chin. Her disturbing Isabela when it had taken her so long to get her to sleep – her determination never to miss anything making it quite the challenge – was the last thing she needed, so she was relieved when the girl turned to her and beamed. “I have tried everything,” Pepa told her. “I took her out in her cochecito, I sang to her, I changed her pañal…I think she might actually be trying to kill me.”
“Have you tried nursing her?”
“Si, but she just keeps pushing me away! I don’t know what else to do.”
She moved her little girl up slightly in her lap and held her tighter when she looked up at her again, her love for her growing when she reached up and grabbed her face with small hands to pull her down to her. She placed gentle kisses on her cheeks, smiling at her gurgles, and when she pulled back she could see in her eyes she was tired. It made no sense at all to her why she was doing all she could think of to avoid having to go to sleep. Looking at her sister again, she glared. “Ay, I hate you sometimes,” She only half joked. “Why is yours so calm and mine so…not?”
Julieta could only blink at her for a second. “Um…have you met you?”
“Ha-ha, very funny,” She rolled her eyes. “Juli…”
“Okay, okay, give me un momenta,” Julieta stood from the rocking chair and carried Isa over to her basket, slowly lowering her down into it until her back hit the mattress. Her little girl stirred at the movement, whimpering softly as her eyes blinked open for a second, but three light strokes of her finger against her cheek soothed her and she smiled as she watched her fall back to sleep. She really was the perfect baby. Once she was sure she was sleeping well, she turned back to her hermana and pushed a hand through her hair as she walked back to where she was still sitting with Dolores. “Here, let me take her for a minute.” She said gently.
Pepa handed the baby over with no hesitation and she sat her on her hip, bouncing her and chuckling when she reached up to curl a hand into her hair and give it a tug. Ay, she was a whirlwind this little princesa – much like her mamá though Pepa was forever denying she got it from her – but still so precious and she adored her. “I think mamí needs a break, mi vida, so lets see if this will work,” She said as she carried her to the little changing table. She laid her down carefully and opened the buttons on her cardigan, sliding it off her shoulders and smiling when she started kicking her legs.
It took her no time – well, once she’d managed to get her to lie still – to rid her of her dress and tights so she was lying there in just her pañal. She picked her up then and felt she was shivering a little, what she was hoping for, and after burying a kiss in her curls she began to carry her back to her mamá. It was clear when Pepa got the hint because she opened the top couple buttons on her dress just enough. “Ven aquí,” She heard her whisper as she accepted her baby back and tucked her inside her clothes, kissing her on the brow when she cuddled close.
It took about a minute for her eyes to fall closed and her to settle down to sleep in her arms.
“Works every time.” She said as she sat back down in the chair next to hers.
“Gracias,” Pepa sighed, stroking Dolores’ curls. “I don’t know why I didn’t think of that.”
Julieta shook her head. “We overthink things sometimes.”
A comfortable silence fell over them for a while then, neither of them feeling the need to say much while their girls napped and they made the most of the rare silence, but soon enough that silence was broken by a faint whimper. “Oh, you have got to be joking,” Julieta muttered under her breath as she looked over at the basket Isa was in, sighing when a tiny hand came into view. She didn’t even have to look at her sister to know there was a smirk on her face. “One word from you, hermana, I swear…” She stood from her chair again and walked over to the basket where, soon enough, her girl was awake again with brown eyes sparkling happily. “Are you two plotting against us already, mi corazón, hmm? Is that what all of this is about?”
Pepa shuddered. “Ay, no, they’re turning into us.”
“Don’t say that,” She said with dread in her eyes as she picked Isa up. “We were nightmares.”
“Mmm, but you got away with everything and Bruno and I were always in trouble.”
“No, I got into trouble too.”
“Oh, name one time Señorita Perfecta Julieta got into trouble.”
“Well, there was that time…” Julieta started before shaking her head as she sat down and sat her daughter in her lap. “Oh, there was that time when…no, I got away with that as well. Ay, I guess you’re right.”
Pepa beamed with pride. “Feels good.”
Julieta made a face at her before they chuckled and she brought her baby close, pressing her lips to her temple when she cuddled against her and settled with a deep sigh. “I don’t care what they turn out like,” She admitted as she glanced Pepa’s way again while running a hand along Isabela’s back. “They are so perfect.”
“Mmm, they are,” Pepa agreed, burying her nose in Dolores’ hair. “Perfect…”
