Her hands stop just short of taking his. Waiting until he feels okay.

“I’m sorry. I shouldn’t have pushed you so hard. I know that these things have been difficult for you, and I pushed you anyway. I’m sorry.”

She lets out a long sigh, covering her face with a tired expression.

“Oh, Gods be dammed…” she leans back in her seat. “Well, you probably didn’t need to worry about that… Yeah. We were together. Married for a while, actually, I… I still have the ring.”

Her face just looks resigned. “I’m sorry, I shouldn’t have pushed so hard, but I don’t like being treated like a child who can’t be told things in case she breaks. It’s worse for me to not know. It just makes me feel powerless… the way I was before.” She holds out a hand to him. “Are you alright? It seems like those grey-ones messed with you a lot more in trying to force a burden on your head.”

I know my limits, I know what kind of things are too painful to talk about with others, and if I can’t then I won’t. I know all the things I’ve done, I don’t need to be protected from myself! Especially since you haven’t asked me yet to find out if there even is a boundary!”

She glares for a moment, before sitting herself back down. “If you’d prefer, I could just trauma dump on you until I hit the right one, I have a few thousand years to sort through, but I’m sure I’ll find it eventually.”
