I mean this with no malice but I don't think the issue is people's handling of problematic media (in this case, at least) I just don't think a lot of people are expecting the spiderverse movies to deal with the theme of age gap relationships or teen/adult relationships because it's a movie with a demographic of teenagers and kids released by a major hollywood film studio.
