Pre-Surgical Phase.
Hi guys! This is my first blog about getting braces and my jaw-surgery. A bit about me: I have an overbite, an over jet, my jaw is set in a V shape, instead of a U. (That just means only my front teeth show when I smile and my mouth looks small.) My main reason for undergoing braces/surgery is because of my side profile, my over-jet and my lack of chin and jaw. It also effects my sleeping, I breathe through my mouth instead of nose and because I don't close my mouth when I'm sleeping it ruins my gums.
So I've met with my orthodontist. (I haven't gotten braces yet. Just been planning everything.) I'm waiting for my first appointment with my surgeon which is pretty nerve-racking, but also exciting too! This should be happening within the next fortnight, such a slow process, but I know it will all be worth it.
I have a folder from my orthodontist explaining my treatment plan.
Pre-surgical phase:  - Meet with surgeon - Go back to orthodontist - Scale and Clean - Extractions 18, 28, 38, 34, 44 (evaluating 14, 24.) - Go back to surgeon for evaluation  - Bond second molars Sequence of Arch Wires
- Niti 0,014 - Niti 0,018 - Niti 0,016 * 0, 022  - SS 0,016 with second order bents - SS 0,016 * 0, 022 with second order bents, lingual coronal torque in lower anteriors - SS 0,017 * 0,025 with second order bents.
Treatment Plan:  - Surgical hooks positioning  - Mandibular Advancement surgery and Mentoplasty - Post surgical phase: 6 months - First and second order bents.  Most of you guys will have no idea what most of that means.. And honestly, neither do I. That's just what my booklet says. I will update when I go for my appointment with my surgeon.
