sooooo so so fucking sick how obsessed with space severance is. the apparent hard divide between work and home that is proven to be a total fabrication. characters drawing maps of where they work as an exercise of their agency. the constant tension of where different characters are, where they’re supposed to be, where they’re not supposed to be, the constant incoming proximity of supervisors and security guards. severance is obviously corporate horror but it’s also spatial horror. and it’s a very good demonstration of the limitation of drawing hard boundaries on maps. Lumon may only technically control the lives of their employees when they’re inside their facilities, but the characters are always preoccupied with some other place - the outside world when they are inside and the inside of Lumon when they’re at home. The power of the company extends beyond its borders, literally implanted into the brains of its employees
