Dick's the only one that knows how insane Tim is and I NEED that to be used more in fics. Dick was around for Tim literally being insane during his Robin years, while Steph came later on and didn't really know Tim as well, Jason and Tim weren't on good terms, Cass was as flighty as a feather, and Bruce was BRUCE.

What I'm saying is I need fics where Dick adopts Tim because Dick wants Tim to have a legal guardian in the family and Tim didn't want Bruce. Bruce would try to be his dad and Tim would rather avoid that, but Dick will always be his big brother whether he likes it or not so he may as well make it legal.

Anyway when Damian shows up, Dick's split between his little brother that he's legally responsible for and his new little brother that doesn't have a parental figure since Bruce is (allegedly) dead

Turns out being Tim's legal guardian has some perks because while he can't stop Tim from going on the Bruce Quest (Tim's unreasonable), he CAN sit Tim and Damian down and explain why he thinks it's best that Damian gets Robin and Tim won't immediately duck out.

Damian: Drake, I understand that you're under the false assumption that you're Father's favorite, but he only puts up with you because he is legally obligated to-

Tim: No. I'm literally not his kid- even when I was Robin, he had me for barely a year.

Dick: Yeah. He made up a whole fake uncle then moved around Gotham for a good year or so. He even came to Bludhaven and I had to beg him to live with me instead of on his own.

Tim: And he adopted me.

Dick: That too :)
