International Congress Centrum - ICC Berlin, 1979, photography Project

The ICC Berlin gained worldwide recognition for its quality, technical features, and unique appearance, blending the technological enthusiasm of its time with functional brilliance. As a child of that era, the design reflects the future optimism and mechanical aesthetics of the 1960s and 1970s, while shedding light on the historical developments between East and West in Berlin. For this project, I've explored photographically the contrast and necessity of the inner and outer design of this outstanding congress center.

Refugio en el Universo

Refugio Punta de los Roques / La Palma 2019

On May 26th I started my first multi-day hiking trip into the mountains of La Palma. I choose parts of the GR-131 trail - better known as Ruta El Bastón - the famous trail of the Transvulcania Ultra Marathon. I started from Regufio El Pilar and wanted to hike two days to the Roque de Los Muchachos. On the way there is a cabin - the Refugio Punta de Los Roques - where I have planned to spend a night for photography. The Refugio is perfectly located and offers the best view at the Cascada de nubes.

In the end, the main panorama became a composition of 97 single photos. Meanwhile I was almost laying on the ground while shooting due to the freezing wind and I could hardly feel my fingers anymore.

One year later this image became the cover shot for my longterm astrophotography documentary „Canary Lullabies“

on a newly built road across an incessantly heat radiating 40 km² lava field in the Aridane Valley

In January 2023, I looked closer at the edges of La Palmas latest eruption zone, where devastating streams of lava and inhabited areas merge into a grotesque scenery. The Paradise succumbs to the curse of its own creation. Yet again.

Grace & Tristesse above the Tajogaite Volcano

A Black and White Photography Series about the landscapes of an untouched plateau above the newly created Tajogaite Volcano at La Palma. A few months after the end of the volcanic eruption, I had the chance to be one of the first photographers in the area of Llano del Jable after opening the road LP-301 into the Cumbre Vieja. The plateau is located right above the craters on the east side of Tajogaite and offered a truly natural impression of the covered tristesse and bizarre perspective on a vulnerable moment in time
