not to mention how suspiriorum releases sara and the other girls (though for sara, the motion is described as like a lover, which, ok, yes, me pointing at susie and sara throughout the film like Hello), in a way that implies this depth of care, asking them what they want/handing them agency in choosing death after all the torture they’ve been through?? idk i think there’s something there too, more thoughts needed
thinking about mothers in suspiria, about how it’s markos’s hubris to try to pull susie in and deny any other mother that truly upends things, and that suspiriorum clearly used her influence to drive a wedge between susie and her own mother to encourage susie to accept suspiriorum. how blanc becomes a mother figure to susie (susie asking if blanc loves her and blanc unable to answer because of the implications and knowing what markos is going to try to make happen) and is simultaneously one of the most loyal to suspiriorum because of that…

mother lachrymarum walks through the world like the edge of a clean knife, cutting through it, beautiful in her precision. mother tenebrarum rips through the fabric of things, a serrated edge that leaves things ragged and worn, singular in her cruelty. 
and mother suspiriorum is the wisest and the oldest and punctures through reality like a needle. here is the point where the disloyal were killed. here is the point where she can enter leviathan without the virtues of the box. 
nothing about her is favored by leviathan. at the same time, nothing of her is loathed. any pain caused to her she could return tenfold in the blink of an eye. susie bannon suffered once without tears, and perhaps that is enough. she is not here to suffer. she is here, instead, to visit kirsty cotton, mother of all lies, priestess of this hell. ( because there are many hells, and this is perhaps the most refined of them. )

tonight it rains in the last city. a grey day, a washed-out morning, all the color pulled away from everything. the last bastion here of light. and from the farthest dark, from the edges of known things where even the awoken might fear to tread, comes the girl who is not a girl, who is a long dead girl. 
maybe orin, a former emissary who is still an emissary, knows something about that. about being alive or dead, which is why she avoids the more populace places. that’s fine with her. 
❝ strange to think, ❞ she says, ❝ that you’ve been through so much for so long, and now you’re left to figure out the rest on your own. it seems cruel to me. ❞ no name. no greeting. there, when she shouldn’t be. the rain almost seems to slide through her.
