Any fan’s “forgiveness” or lack thereof regarding Snape is irrelevant. Snape didn’t wrong you. Even if Snape were real, you have no authority to forgive him or not because he didn’t do anything to you.

Tbh I feel like most of this fandom is either

Extremely on Snape's side and defends everything he did wrong

Or

Extremely on the marauders side and defends everything they did wrong

But like both of them aren't that good tho? Snape did some questionable things and so did Sirius and James and Remus and Peter and Lily.

The story is told with some of Harry's thoughts so of course the marauders are going to be glorified and Snape hated so you kinda need to just put the facts on the table

I don't think the marauders are better than snape and I don't think he's better than the marauders

Tbh the hp fandom has gotten pretty toxic lately and started shipping kids with adults and sexualizing alot of kids and it's just not good

But idk

you're right in that the general HP fandom (including marauder stans) have this kind of black and white attitude when analyzing characters and their motives, and tend to oversimplify everything and everyone into terms of bad and good.

which is why i've made sure to keep clear from them and only participate in the snapedom, a place with people who think critically and don't sugarcoat, not even snape. they/we always point out snape's faults and how could we not, when they're what make us love him even more

and i'm not saying this out of bias. snapedom is genuinely the only part of the fandom where i've seen people be fair and not use strawman arguments or bullshit fanon theories

snape is introduced at a young age wearing a “women’s blouse”, which petunia uses to mock him

snape, when appearing to neville as a boggart, wears neville’s grandmother’s clothing when neville uses riddikilus on him

during “snape’s worst memory”, james turns snape (who he sees as a potential romantic rival) upside down and strips him/humiliates him in an attempt to impress lily, and after snape yells at lily and calls her a mudblood, lily covers up her (justifiably) hurt feelings by commenting on his dirty underwear

snape’s patronus, confirmed by jkr to be a symbol of “true love, love everlasting”, unlike james’ stag, mirrors lily’s patronus by being a doe (which much of the fandom considers to be a sign of obsession, despite never levelling the same accusations against tonks’ wolf patronus mirroring remus’)

most, if not all, of the significantly positive/grounding forces in severus’ life are women (eileen, lily, narcissa, mcgonagall)
