Three forms of sin

Three kinds of sinful idolatry we face in the world today that are not of the Father.

In 1 John 2 we have the definition of each of them; In Genesis 3 Eve's first encounter with each of those, Exodus 16,17 and 19-32 display the same temptations for Gods people in the desert, and in Matthew 4 Jesus's defense to them in the wilderness while fasting.

"For the world offers only a craving for physical pleasure" 1 John 2:15-17

"and its fruit looked delicious" Genesis 3:6

“Then the whole community of Israel set out from Elim and journeyed into the wilderness of Sin, between Elim and Mount Sinai. They arrived there on the fifteenth day of the second month, one month after leaving the land of Egypt. There, too, the whole community of Israel complained about Moses and Aaron. “If only the Lord had killed us back in Egypt,” they moaned. “There we sat around pots filled with meat and ate all the bread we wanted. But now you have brought us into this wilderness to starve us all to death.” Exodus 16

“If you are the Son of God, tell these stones to become loaves of bread.” But Jesus told him, “No! The Scriptures say, ‘People do not live by bread alone, but by every word that comes from the mouth of God.’” Matthew 4

2. "a craving for everything we see" 1 John 2:15-17

" Then the devil took him to the holy city, Jerusalem, to the highest point of the Temple, and said, “If you are the Son of God, jump off! For the Scriptures say, ‘He will order his angels to protect you. And they will hold you up with their hands so you won’t even hurt your foot on a stone.’” Jesus responded, “The Scriptures also say, ‘You must not test the Lord your God.’” Matthew 4

3. "and pride in our achievements and possessions" 1 John 2:15-17

"she wanted the wisdom it would give her" Genesis 3:6

"Next the devil took him to the peak of a very high mountain and showed him all the kingdoms of the world and their glory. “I will give it all to you,” he said, “if you will kneel down and worship me.” “Get out of here, Satan,” Jesus told him. “For the Scriptures say, ‘You must worship the Lord your God and serve only him.’” Then the devil went away, and angels came and took care of Jesus.” Matthew 4

By this we can learn that we should:

Rejoice Evermore

Pray without ceasing

In everything give thanks.

Adam and Eves departure is made up of these 3 characteristics

Indulgence in forbidden fruit

With knowledge of good and evil

To escape God's judgement
