Welcome! I'm Meara, Eldest of Them
All and official fandom Grandma (but most people just call me Bat-Gran). I've been reading and writing about comics for over half a century now. Batman and his ever growing horde of kids in tights are of particular interest to me. Tim Drake is my favorite Robin, although all of the Bat-kids are given some love here. Be warned though, my interests are wide, varied and more than a little eclectic so expect the unexpected when stopping by my blog.
On Monday, a little over two weeks after a traumatic brain injury that caused catastrophic damage, my beloved husband of over 45 years passed away. While I held his hand and gave him one last kiss on the cheek, his breathing slowed than stopped. He was the great love of my life and my best friend.
After a Mass of Christian burial on Tuesday, we'll sing him to his rest. There's a song that's traditional in my family. We sing it at the graveside and those who have gone before us sing in heaven as we do so, uniting the living and dead in love. It was originally in Irish Gaelic but was translated into English about two generations ago.
Into the keeping of God I place you.
May the gate of heaven open to you willingly.
May God come to claim you.
and carry your soul to the City of Saints.
Don't fall in love with this life.
It passes like blossoms on the branch.
Follow the path of those who journey
from this life to the land of the saints.
I'll be back after that because the world doesn't stop for anyone's sorrow or heartbreak. Life goes on and somehow so must I. Mike expects that of me and I'll honor that final wish.
Cherish the time you have with those you love. You never know when it will end.
My beloved husband of 45 years collapsed and is headed into surgery for a brain bleed. If anyone who reads this could please say a quick prayer for him and for me I'd be grateful
i am sorry but i am so gah about them because like genuinely at this part tim is not just asking dick to believe & trust in him (and knowing dick will) but he is also affirming to dick that he believes & trusts in dick's ability as batman & dick's decisions before he goes!!
like tim telling dick "you take care of gotham" when tim knows the importance of batman needing to be there for gotham is tim affirming dick as the new batman who has an important job to do & showcasing the confidence and trust in dick to be the one to take care of gotham (the city they both love)!! tim telling dick to not let damian ruin everything they built as robin is a tim who *has* accepted dick's decision of damian as the holder of the mantle as tim knows now that he (tim) has to leave the robin mantle behind to go after the chance bruce is alive!! that is why he is stressing the importance of dick ensuring damian upholds the legacy of it!! the legacy of dick's that is important to tim!! the robin mantle!! the importance of robin!! robin means something (especially to tim)!! and tim might still be very, very unsure of damian's ability to uphold it at this moment!! but!! he is at least accepting of the chance to try that dick gave to damian!! if he wasn't accepting of dick's choice, he would not have said this!! if he truly thought dick was making a mistake he would have straight up told dick that!! the acknowledgment of damian's ability to potentially even make a mark on the legacy tim holds dear is tim acknowledging him as the inheritor of the mantle!!
A requested drawing for @susan6101, featuring Tim Drake with the batfam! I had a separate drawing showing him with Steph but I'll have to post that in a separate time.
I don't draw Tim a whole lot, and I feel a bit bad about that. But I do like the character and enjoyed him in his solo and in Young Justice.
