I am over 50 and have been in media fandom for 30+ years. I have a love of fandom and its history. I am disabled and use voice recognition software to write so there may be typos and the occasional word salad. Please feel free to reblog or link to my tumblr. I love to meet fans in person and live in the SF Bay Area. Note: this blog is for adults only. If you are under the age of majority in your country, please pass it by.
Demonology and the Tri-Phasic Model of Trauma: An Integrative Approach, a Good Omens fanfic by @mouseonamoose
After surviving the events of the apocalypse, Anthony J. Crowley goes to therapy. This fic is a well-researched and rich depiction of trauma therapy from the perspective of the mental health provider.
Bound in premium cotton from Worldcloth decorated with silver hot stamp foil and a hand painted foreedge. Frontispiece artwork generously provided by @rjrjrjrjrjrjrjrj. To enhance the reading experience, the typeset of this book was further annotated with additional commentary on the psychotherapeutic process (see footnote example.)
This book was bound and gifted to a fellow clinician in a different medical field as part of the @renegadeguild Mini Exchange, 2024.
Zines and fanzines have always been a form of expression. They are about community and a celebration of what fans enjoy, to lift each other up and bond over a shared love of the fandom.
This is a gentle reminder that no one controls the fandom zine sphere. If you have an idea and you want to share it with the fandom, you can do just that.
There is no calling "dibs" on a topic. If two people have the same idea then that just means that there are now more zines for people to enjoy & support. There is no competition and nor should there be, as zines are for charity and created with the spirit of giving back.
Yes, some zines will get more support than others.
Yes, some zines are more popular in topic.
Yes, some zines don't even get enough funding to allow for physical books to be printed.
But they are still made.
They were still planned out and put together by a volunteer group of friends and strangers, who worked together with a common goal - to share their passion with the fandom.
There is no such thing as exclusivity in the zine community. No one has the right to say you can't create a zine on a topic because it was already done, or because someone wanted to do it first. There is room for all ideas and many of the same. It can be surprising if someone else announces the creation of a zine centered around a topic you wanted to work on yourself, but that is not a reason to tell them to stop, or to give up your plans either. Communicate. Support each other. There are many ways to work with such situations - timelines and schedules can be changed or join forces to make the zine together. In no instance is bullying an option or solution. Cooperation and coordination are much easier and simpler options, because fan projects thrive on the support and encouragement of the fandom. We are all here to celebrate and expand the worlds we have chosen to devote ourselves to with enthusiasm and passion.
I must sleep. Sleep is the mind-healer. Sleep is the big-life that brings total ability to fucking do anything. I will face my bed. I will permit the blankie to pass over me and snores to pass through me. And when sleep has gone past I will turn the outer eye to greet the new morning. When the sleep has gone there will be everything. Energy and will to live will remain.
When James Potter answers a mysterious ad in his local coffee shop, the last thing he expects is to be thrown into a world of white collar crime, but how can he resist when the mastermind behind the operation has dark hair and brooding eyes and promises wealth beyond James' wildest imagination? He would do anything for that boy named after a star, including stealing millions of dollars of fine art.

Fandom: Harry Potter
Disclaimer: otrtbs no longer allows binds of Art Heist, Baby!. This edition was first typeset and bound in May of 2023. Please do not use this post as a permission to bind Art Heist, Baby!.
Art Heist, Baby! was one of the very first jegulus fics I read, and eventually became my second-ever bind. The original binding for this fic was done over the course of a single weekend, which makes me cringe a little now鈥攂ut I am still so proud of this typeset and the bind itself, despite its flaws.
Half-Letter | 219,117 words | 609 pages
Title and Drop Cap Font: Bodoni 72
Body: Adobe Garamond Pro
Accent(s): Gill Sans, Futura Condensed
Typset by me in Word.
Designed by me in Illustrator.
Materials
Cover Bookcloth: Duo in Blue Jean
HTV: Siser Brand in Gold Metal and Powder Blue
Endbands: Mettler Silk Finish Thread
Endpapers: Chiyogami Paper
Eventually, I found that the structure of my previous binding was less-than-ideal, and I decided to rebind my copy. Given that I couldn't change the typeset, I spent a lot of time deciding on a cover design, and eventually settled on using Ivan Aivazovsky's Ship on Stormy Seas (a painting synonymous with this fic) as inspiration.
The process of turning the boat from this painting into something that could be used with a single shade of HTV was difficult, but I eventually settled upon a design I was happy with after messing around in Illustrator for a couple weeks.
When I removed the cover from this bind, I also trimmed and painted the edges, sewed double-core french endbands (two-tone, to match the bookcloth), and reinforced the spine (though I couldn't do much for the pre-existing swell). Overall, I am thrilled with how it looks, and with how my original typeset fits with my more developed design style.
Thank you to Nat, for writing such a beautiful (and heart-wrenching) story. Art Heist, Baby! is free to read on ao3, here.
Haha. That's about Wattpad having a porn purge, which apparently started a few days ago.
Granted, Wattpad is always having a porn purge, but this one sounds larger and like it's bothering more of the users.
When FFN did its big purge in 2012, users stampeded over to AO3, turning the queue from 24 hours to 6 months overnight. (Okay, it mostly got down to 3 months when they increased the queue speed, but...) It's quite possible something similar will happen now, though it depends on how many people are actually affected on Wattpad and how nervous it ends up making people.
It's a lot healthier to go for a daily walk than to sign up for a gym membership you won't be using because you hate that kind of exercise. It's a lot healthier to eat a frozen meal than to skip a meal because you were too tired to cook something healthy. It's a lot healthier to take a quick shower than to procrastinate an elaborate routine for days. Don't aim so high that you won't be hitting anything!
Do you guys think it means anything that Dawn (Buffy's girlhood/innocence) never really becomes close with Giles in the same way the other characters do
Looks like Wattpad is having a NSFW purge. People are talking about it on r/wattpad and r/fanfiction. Anyone here use wattpad and notice? I wonder what the scale and criteria they are using is.

Oh boy. AO3, brace yourself!
