I like supercorp but I do not stand with the fan base!! I have a huge problem with people degrading actors and actresses for ROLES THEY PLAY!!! Characters can be significant to a persons life BUT THEY ARE CHARACTERS. You are committing a CRIME OF HARASSMENT and it is inexcusable to treat someone in such a negative fashion. At this point in the show I hope it is cancelled before supercorp could ever become CANON AS THE FAN BASE NO LONGER DESERVES IT (ps check out fanfics instead they are written better).

We finally got good content in an episode and fans skip the episode.... what are you trying to accomplish!!!!! Chyler deserves the credit for her work. Azie had a lot of screen time... the show isn’t perfect but by increasing the ratings on episodes like this one is how you let the writers and producers know what fans want.

Stop talking smack is you’re not watching.... disrespectful and down right rude.

I understand your frustration but it is not his fault. Go to the writers, executives who CREATE THE CONTENT. He is simply playing a part.

Especially in such uncertain times, I am truly disappointed in this fandom. Supergirl has done so much for so many people. If you don’t like it STOP WATCHING and move onto Batwoman which is awesome.

Please remember it is not Staz’ fault, he is given the part to play... respect his job even though most of us are not a fan of Kara and William.

I know many of you Sanvers shippers are still very deep in your feelings and unwilling, even feeling unable to allow Alex to move on and grow, but I want you to listen to what Chyler and Azie said in this interview about how much love and respect they have for Sanvers and their characters’ new storyline together.

They get it. They aren’t trying to replace or forget the past, they want to honour it while allowing space for their characters to build a foundation and find their way together.

I’m grateful for how seriously they take the responsibility of representation and making genuine, and incredibly moving television.

The Bullying Problem

I just wanted to throw something out there. I know I said my previous post would be the last one for the Summer but it’s been bugging me.

Recently, Chyler talked about how the bullying and harassment aimed at herself and her other cast members have caused her to want to be on social media a lot less. And that harassment comes from a group of people who don’t seem to understand that James is a character. He doesn’t give a solitary fuck about how much you hate him, and those same people have spread hate so much that the cast can barely stand them and the writers ignore them entirely.

And at the same time, these harassers and bullies don’t seem to comprehend that the people who Chyler is talking about is them. She’s talking about the part of the Sanvers fandom who lost their fucking minds over the introduction of Kelly to the show and started bullying the actress.

She’s talking about the Supercorp fandom’s deranged hostility towards Chris and Mehcad. She’s talking about all of this stuff that is making her sad and the people who are doing it are just remaining completely oblivious that they’re the problem she’s talking about.

And I’ve noticed something with Katie McGrath as well. Has anyone else noticed that her usual very open support for the Supercorp fandom has diminished significantly over the last year or so? I’ve seen much fewer interviews from the cast in general, but the difference between the frequency of her talking about Supercorp is like night and day.

I suppose it can be very difficult to be supportive of a fandom who regularly harasses some of her friends. I would just like to point out that Katie has always supported the desire to ship anyone you want, she has never once supported the fandom’s habit of bullying people.

But right now she’s in a difficult position because she can’t directly speak out against them at this point without making them feel betrayed. She can’t confront these harassers because she knows she’ll hurt some of them. And you need only look at the cast interacting less and less with the fans every year to see evidence of how bad this has gotten. So bad that even Chyler, someone I don’t think has been directly bullied for anything, has to come out and talk about how bad it’s become.

So bad that Melissa and Chris had to turn off comments for their engagement announcement, something that anyone else would expect to be congratulated for because they were expecting hostility from the Supercorp fandom. And I was online that day and went straight to the Supercorp tag. Some of the things said in there about the engagement were downright disgusting.

Now I know I talk a lot of shit about the Supercorp fandom, pretty much all of it warranted, but I do need to be fair about something. A lot of people in the tag that day told people in their own fandom that giving Melissa and Chris shit over their engagement was a new low, so it wasn’t ALL of them.

It’s common knowledge that the worst kind of people is usually the loudest, and oftentimes they’re SO loud they drown out the people who are telling them to calm the fuck down and stop being so extra.

So as much as it may seem otherwise, I don’t forget that those people exist. I just rarely hear them.

Anyway, I just wanted to talk about the subject of rampant bullying in the fandom and how it’s negatively impacting the cast’s relationship with the viewers. I mean…this needs to stop. This isn’t a new problem for the show, it’s been going on since the first season and only got REALLY with every season after that, but despite all evidence suggesting this harassment is causing huge problems, it keeps going on and it keeps getting worse.

This needs to end before next season starts, otherwise, characters that you don’t want to go will leave the show simply because the actors can’t take the bullying anymore.

Shipping whoever you want within any fandom should always be welcome. If somebody does not agree with a ship that is their right but it does not encourage people to speak negatively in any capacity. Whether it is towards the fan shipping the couple or the actors and actresses themselves.

Specifically for Supergirl we have seen a lot of love but also and enormous amount of hate. Several cast members have posted on their platforms about how hurtful the comments are. We watch in appreciation for their talents and the stories they create. Cast members attend Cons to meet their fans even when their time outside of production is short. Yet people have the audacity to publish hateful comments. Cyber bullying is not okay. It is hurtful. We should all live by the motto if you don’t have something nice to say don’t say it. I’ve seen several rude comments on AO3 works which is even more disheartening. People put hours of work and dedication towards their pieces. If you do not like the story, that is okay but that doesn’t give someone the right to post negative comments.

In conclusion you don’t know what is going on in their life. So please think twice about what you post and whether it will put a smile on their face or not.
