I know we all make fun of Sniper for saying "God save the queen" which, in real life, where "the queen" in Australia would refer to the queen of England, would be extremely cringe. However, in the tf2 update comic Loose Canon, we learn that in the tf2niverse, in Australia they "choose their king" by fighting a kangaroo. Therefore Sniper tf2 actually refers to a hypothetical queen who beat the shit out of a kangaroo. In this essay I will

Okay, but it’s kinda implied in the TF2 comics that the reanimator from MvM doesn’t exist because otherwise it wouldn’t have taken several hours and over a billion dollars in exotic animal parts to revive Sniper. I feel like they wrote that, along with the medigun being broken, into the story for a reason. Like, we know the mercs can survive some otherwise lethal injuries because their souls are tethered to Medic’s and unable to move on to the afterlife. But the fact that Medic had to actually intervene to bring Sniper back means that it’s still technically possible for them to be functionally dead if the physical damage they take is too much. Like, the reanimator from the games may be able to reverse being blown to bits or burnt to ash but there’s nothing to indicate that sort of thing is a possibility in the comics. For the sake of dramatic stakes I think they made a point of saying Sniper’s revival was a one-off that couldn’t be replicated because of the money and resources involved, which means if someone else were to get hurt that badly Medic wouldn’t be able to save them.

Maybe they’re planning to kill someone off in the last issue, or at least make it look like someone could die because they took away the safety net.

TF2 comics also like to reference popular superhero comic covers for their numbered issues. Notably they’ve referenced 2 Superman covers with Heavy standing in for Superman.

So what if in the last issue they want to make it look like Heavy’s going to die and they reference this cover, with Medic as the stand-in for Lois Lane?
