So, about Goncharov...

At first, I was comfortable with just blocking the tags and content, but I've seen the error of my ways, so here we are.

Folks, I get that it's always fun to mislead people outside of tumblr and yadda yadda

but can you at least take something that doesn't glorify Russian culture and makes it relevant while Russia is literally destroying my country with missiles?

I understand that in the eyes of the many the aesthetics of Russia (especially during the times of the Soviet Union and the Russian Empire) is "cool, dramatic, mysterious"

But that's just a pretty picture. A facade, if I may. Do you know what it's really like?

At this very minute, as I am writing this post, rockets are once again flying over peaceful Ukrainian cities.

A newborn baby was killed by a rocket tonight. In a maternity hospital. That they've struck by a missile. In the middle of the night.

How can you still perceive Russia and its culture as something interesting and worthy of attention?

Why it's always Russia, who takes the spotlight? Why isn't it Poland, Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia, Czech Republic, Moldova, Romania, Belarus or any other country/nation, whose blood and bones became the foundation of "great russian culture"?

At the beginning, it was fun for me to watch as this unreality thing became popular and gained more attention.

But yesterday we had a story with a major studio, who erased Ukrainian heritage in their promo of the well-know series. And if not for the huge backlash then "Prince Yaroslav the Wise, ruler of Kyivan Rus", would be known to the world as "warrior ruler and king of Northern Russia" (that didn't even exist back then btw) and it would be once again regarded as an achievement of "great russian culture"

And make no mistake - it's not me, taking away a tumblr's new favourite toy.

No, what I'm trying to do is show you, that it can be about just anything but not Russia. Not now. Not ever.

Hey tumblr! I’m Ukrainian.

I made this art and didn’t notice how a whole month has already passed wow haha

Not a lot of people follow me, but still

Ukrainians have been dying for 8 years already because russians forgot something on our land (before the full-scale invasion) and now, since Feb 24, I begin and end my day with news, hoping that people I know, friends and my family are going to stay, more or less, in safety, alive. I’m in safety.

I moved to another country a bit more than a year ago to study, oh, all this year I was saying how much I want to see my Ukrainian friends again. Now, it seems, that we will have to add “getting drunk after our victory and for the Glory of Ukraine” event. As you can probably guess, being in another country didn’t make me less Ukrainian.

Never in my life have I experienced this much stress, fear, fury and uh- disconnect from this world? At least I wanted to disconnect mentally and didn’t want to actually believe, but well.

Never in my life have I experienced this amount of pride, hope and feeling of unity.

I’m not going to debate or try to prove anything to English speaking part of internet because it’s- exhausting in a way. I want to ask you one thing: before thinking you know more than Ukrainians ASK US AND LISTEN TO US, our experience. Okay, I changed my mind actually. Stop with your “only Putin is guilty” bullshit. Stop trying to make us friends with russians. Stop making us family. We know how we should behave and what we should do. We know, we really do. We don’t need guidance from someone who is not Ukrainian. I’m nauseous from hearing surrender advices or from hearing about “you need to unite with russians because you have one enemy”.

Fuck no? Also don’t tell us how to react to the fact that the genocide of our people is happening AGAIN. Someone is hiding at home, someone is in a bunker, someone is starving, someone got serious injuries, someone is saying the last goodbye. Thanks.

I’m in pain. I swear I have a headache each time I see a white-blue-red flag. I wanted the world to notice Ukraine: our language, culture, people. Not this way though..

I’m still not really comfortable with using tumblr, I’m not sure that it suits my posting style or whatever.

I want to leave one more art here. Found my watercolours to get rid of tension and bad thoughts that were piling up, each day, more and more. I made it on Feb 22 (Canadian time) - the day before I received messages from my friends that they woke up at 5 AM.
