I have a very important question about playing a small race character in BG3!!

🫥 how does the first sex scene with Astarion work? He just jumped right into my Dragonborn’s arms, but what happens with a small Tav? I’m just picturing Sonic running through town with that human girl from 06 lmao does he like… scoop you?

So Script Extender updated. You can load the game with mods now. But...is anybody not getting randomized kisses with Astarion? I was told that they do sometimes repeat, but I've been trying for about 15 in a row and I'm only getting one of Ascended's new kisses...and I haven't been able to get Spawn's new kiss to fire yet...just the one from Patch 5.

*edit* I was able to get the 'bitey kiss' to fire during the last-kiss-before-the-netherbrain scene. Is that the only time you're supposed to see that one? I was lead to believe it was randomized throughout.

*edit 2* Ok...so I am getting the new Spawn kiss to fire randomly...yay! But still question on randomized kisses for Ascended.

Still having an absolute blast running two custom characters together (solo multi-player). I'm about half-way thru Act 2 now and each time I play I love my Gnome Durge, Raven, more and more. Height differences abound and it's amazing

Raven has been able to keep her bloodlust under wraps, for the most part. She's an amazing Assassin and is the heaviest hitter in my party. Boyfriend Bard-Starion very rarely needs to assist with heals...but he does find himself healing Skye quite often (Skye is a Cleric but they're kitted out with a lighting build over healing so kind of a glass canon).

Skye has also eased back on being so judgy, especially because those who live in glass houses should not be throwing stones...or calling the kettle black...or...something. While Raven has always been clear about her feelings for Astarion, Skye was playing the field...and ended up breaking Karlach's heart...which was rather brutal to watch. Seriously, I don't recommend it. Gale was happy tho.

I find it amazing that Larian took the time to properly animate kissing scenes for different heights...OMG Astarion's kiss is precious with him getting down on one knee. Sorry, I don't have the camera mod...

The Trials and Tribulations of Playing a Gnome in Baldur's Gate 3...

A.K.A. The Adventures of Raven and Skye

I decided to try my hand at playing solo multiplayer. That is...creating two custom characters to play together. And so far...let me say...it is an absolute blast! With occasional hilarity!

Day 1 -

Raven wakes up with no memory (I was fresh out of originality when it comes to names. Don't judge me...)

Raven meets Skye...who is much taller than she is (I'll repeat the stipulation that thou shalt not judge regarding the lack of name originality.)

Skye is judgy. I mean, that squirrel came right at her! How could they not have seen that!

That's ok. If they want to be Judgy McJudgerson...well, two can play at that game...

Anyways...it's been so fun to play these two together! I can't wait to keep going. I had thought I would miss out on ambient banter, which I am as I only have two of the actual companions out at any given time...but my two characters have been chattering away! That was completely unexpected! One will react to the other's dialogue choices...or one will make a passing exploration comment and the other will also have something to say. I love it!

They also have a wonderful sibling vibe going on. Raven (she/her) is a Durge Assassin who hasn't quite figured out how she feels about the world. One minute she might be nice...and in another, not so much. Skye (he/they) is a Cleric of Talos who is very JUDGY (according to Raven). In all honestly, they're just a bit full of themselves.

Raven will definitely be romancing Astarion (BECAUSE GNOME). The man doesn't waste any time. Third long rest and he's already trying to bite her! (It really was very early early in the game...they hadn't even gotten to any of the random drained boars yet and he was only at like 10 approval).

Skye I think will be romancing Gale. I had originally intended for them to hit it off with Karlach, but there are definitely some sparks with Gale. I dunno. We'll see what happens when we pick up Karlach. Skye has always been about putting Number 1 first...and power...and BEING JUDGY (again, according to Raven)...so Gale might be a great fit. We'll see!

Has anybody done a full playthrough with solo multiplayer...meaning two of your own custom Tavs played together? Did it work out at the end? Do they both get end conversations with their significant others? What about the epilogue? I'm curious because I just started one with two Tavs (one to romance Astarion and one to romance Karlach) and I'm hoping they'll both get resolutions at the end of the game.

So Bard-Starion...yay or nay?

(I normally always keep him as a Rogue...Thief in particular...but this time around I'm playing a Rogue-Assassin so don't really need another Rogue. The thought of Astarion with the Cutting Words reaction that Lore Bard gets sounds pretty neat.)

Do folks ever change his class? Or the class of the other companions?

Found it! I was on the right track with Wyll's outfit. The correct name is HUM_M_CLT_Rich_F and when I had that I could easily look up the texture address! Whew!

So I've been digging through the game files for several hours trying to locate the texture address for Astarion's Ascendant Outfit (from the epilogue) and I can't find it for the life of me. I know how to find the textures for the other models, such as the Act 3 version that uses the same model, but I can't find the epilogue one. I've unpacked the Patch 5 .pak but still no luck. I think the issue is that it uses the same base mesh. Normally I would find the mesh I'm looking for and then look for that mesh name in the .lsx files to get the texture address in the virtual textures folder...but that method just brings me back around to the Act 3 version (the one with the birds). I've even been able to find Wyll's duke outfit textures from the epilogue no prob...because it uses a new mesh. But Astarion's is eluding me.

In short, I'm looking for something that looks like this -

DARK URGE SPOILERS....

Well ya'll. I played a Durge that ended up submitting to Bhaal. And lemme tell ya...there's just no good way to end it (not good, good...but good...I hope that makes sense). Like...none of the endings were satisfying in the least. The one I ended up going with for her? Final act of defiance and noping right out of everything right at the docks (much to Halsin's dismay...boyfriend Ascended Astarion had nothing to say about it...le'sigh). The only other options were to control the brain, which I really didn't like because that's not what she wanted (that and you get nothing afterwards other than credits rolling because Bhaal won and shame on you)...or shuffling off to your doomed future and turning into a breeder for Bhaal's horde.

So yeah...totally not satisfying...which means that morally questionable characters I may play in the future will have to defy Bhaal in the temple to get any sort of actual ending that doesn't end in bleh. Or I guess just not play those characters as Durge's and play them as Tav's.

(One interesting thing...if you DO go through with the final act of defiance and NOPE out right on the docks...you do get a cutscene with Withers at the end where he tells you that the end of life doesn't mean the end of the story...)

(I mean, I guess you could say "Well, what were you expecting..." and yeah, that's a valid response. But I guess what I was hoping for was a third option to not control the brain and still be able to go on being Bhaal's Chosen. But I guess at that point, a good Chosen would have done what they were told and controlled the brain. And around and around it goes...lol.)
