For those who don't know, Rafah Crossing is closed. Meaning Palestinians in the Gaza Strip are technically not allowed to go into Egypt through Rafah Crossing (with exceptions, like holding a foreign passport) so in order to evacuate, Palestinians need to bribe Egyptian border security officials. The standard price used to be about $5000 - 7000 per person but some Palestinians have been told to pay $10,000 per person just to cross the border, forget other expenses like food and boarding.

For a group of people who are enduring genocide and the complete destruction of their homes that money is impossible to raise without the help of fundraising. That and the collapse of the UNRWA is the reason you're seeing so many Gofundmes nowadays. The entire aid system is gone with the exception of local aid organisations that have limited reach.

So if you see a credible fundraiser, please at the very least share it so it can reach more people. This list by @el-shab-hussein is a good place to start.

April 9, 2024: The Arizona Supreme Court just voted a pre-statehood law from 1864 that will effectively ban all abortion care in the state.

If you need abortion care there is still 45 days to seek abortion care within the state.

My only child was born in Arizona via a late term abortion in 2020 due to Triploidy, a condition that is completely incompatible with life. Having an abortion (vaginal birth with induction) saved my life and my future fertility.

My name is Maha Abu Shammala , the purpose of this fundraising campaign is to collect donations to support my family in Gaza.

My uncle Jamal Abu Shammala and his entire family suffered catastrophic conditions due to the war that has been going on for five months.

His family includes 12 members (father Jamal, mother Mona, and their children and grandchildren).

The father, Jamal Abu Shammala, is 65 years old.

They are suffering from the most catastrophic humanitarian conditions. Since October 7, they have been fleeing from the bombing.

He survived two attempts to bomb the house while they were in it, and the siege of tanks, and the fear, horror, hunger, and desert life on the Egyptian borders in tents.

We appeal to your active support to help me enable this family to survive and escape from the cruelty of war.

We ask you to spread this campaign with your friends and family and on your accounts on your social media platforms.

House bombing:

On the fourth day of the war, the family was exposed to the bombing of the house while they were inside it.

It was a very terrifying day, and they were all injured by bruises and suffocation due to the bombing.

They were finally able to escape despite the great suffocation, especially among children and the elderly, as everyone fled the house without being able to take anything from it.

The family lost their entire house and everything in it, as it was bombed again the next day.

The child Mona suffered a nervous shock following the direct bombing of the house, which led to her being unable to speak for several days

The hell of displacement and tank siege:

The family was displaced to the central Gaza Strip amidst the bombing and extreme terror that afflicted them.

They arrived at a house there, and then they were displaced under the bombing to Khan Yunis, south of the Strip.

They stayed for 3 months, suffering from a lack of food, water, and clothing until tanks surprised them at dawn on Sunday 01/21/2024.

It surrounded the house they were in and began firing fire, shells, and incendiary phosphorus bombs throughout the night.

The fire entered the house and a fire broke out in it.

We cannot describe to you the horror of children, women and adults as well

A full night of terror, similar to horror movies, but they lived it in reality.

There was no rescuer, no paramedic, no hospital.

No one could reach the area where many neighbors were killed and they continued to bleed to death without anyone being able to save them.

They were able to escape the next day and, with the grace of God, were saved again!

You wanna know something funny? Literally the same day I lost Genny, she sent me another baby. I didn’t expect the cat distribution system to get around to me again so soon, but I'm happy my girl came through for me in her own way. Genny didn't want me to be alone. This little baby looks a lot like my girl. (Obviously they're not related, but he's a brown tabby like Genny. Please know that this doesn't mean I don't care about Genny. All of you know how much I cherished my girl and I always will. Her memory will live on forever. This boy is his own cat.)

Everyone, meet Emmett Belphegor! Yes, his first name is Emmett and his middle name is Belphegor. Lol. Those were the two names he responded to the most out of the several possible names I had picked out for him. The other names I thought of were:

He's three months old. His birthday is December 3rd. There's a picture of him below.

Emmett was in a horrible living environment before I got him. He was living in a crate with his siblings, his mom, and possibly his dad too. The people I got him from also had an aggressive dog who has apparently killed cats before. (I'm not the biggest fan of dogs anyway, aside from smaller breeds, but that’s beside the point.) I've had Emmett for about a week now and he's still adjusting to his new surroundings. He's been hiding quite a bit in my room, but he's been out a lot more and roaming around. He's getting so brave and I'm so proud of him! I'm happy I get to continue being a cat mom and a cat auntie.

He's very vocal and feisty. I'm still trying to get him used to my schedule. It'll take a while because he's still a baby and all. What really sucks is that I haven't had a lot of time to fully bond with Emmett because of how hectic my schedule has been. It's a long story.

Just thought I'd give y'all an update.

Hey, everyone. This isn't very easy for me to talk about, but I need to.

My beloved cat Genny passed away this morning. I was still at work when this happened. Thank god I was able to find coverage as quickly as I did. I'm so crushed right now, you have no idea. Genny got me through so much shit in the near fourteen years of our lives. That girl has been by my side since I was twelve, going on thirteen. We really got to be girls together. 😭

She was a great cat. I've had lots of cats throughout my life that were all special in their own ways, but my Genny was special. Genny got me through the rest of my school career, and my adulthood so far.

I'm forever grateful for the time I got to spend with her.
