            I made a comparison between Lilith and Hunter projecting their own experiences and trauma onto King and Amity’s relationships respectively, but also;

         On the flipside, I have to appreciate how King, who’s gone through the same thing in Keeping Up A-Fear-ances, is able to quell Amity’s concerns? Obviously King ultimately DID express concern over his father abandoning him regardless, but at the time, what Lilith did to him, essentially dragging the poor kid down to her level… That wasn’t okay and it wasn’t healthy, and it wasn’t a natural conclusion that King himself made on his own, over time.

         So it’s very neat to see King help Amity through this, as someone who also got projected upon and dragged down by Hunter- And King’s more level head and familiarity with Luz allows him to remind Amity that this isn’t who her girlfriend is, and to not let Hunter’s words get into her head.

         Amity knows Luz, and Luz would never treat her that way… And King knows Luz himself as well, so it’s very handy to have him guide Amity on this, by cutting right through the anxiety and objectively looking at the situation with his sort of faithful lens towards Luz, who he’s even more familiar with.

         Obviously there are Doylist reasons behind Eda not being the one to reassure Amity on this, but with how King previously bore a similar burden of projection, and I have to wonder if him being the one to help Amity through this is intentional on the writers’ part. King is familiar enough with this to recognize when someone is applying their own trauma over another person’s relationship, and can remind Amity not to let Hunter’s cynicism get to her.

         Which, I think that in turn plays a part in Amity collecting herself and drawing upon her own lessons and experience, and in turn attempting to pass them onto Hunter. It didn’t quite work as intended, but… At the same time, I think what Amity told Hunter actually DID have an impact on him, and will leave its mark as he takes it to heart- Just not immediately, especially not when this kid is justifiably freaking out over the tangible situation and consequences of needing the Titan’s Blood.

        But once Hunter no longer feels like he’s in active danger, and he may very well have been with the kind of mind games that Belos likes to play- He’s left in a healthier state of mind where he can actually appreciate the support of his palisman…

         So I don’t think it’ll be forever before Hunter reflects on what happened, because he clearly already did with how he thanks Amity and considers how desperate he was, and realize how he’s not exactly proud of his actions- And I think that’ll ultimately remind Hunter of Amity’s kind words, and give him the time and opportunity to really dwell and think about it, and compare how Belos’ expectations made Hunter paranoid by contrast.

Luz Telling Amity She’s Pretty

I’ve watched “Steven Universe: The Movie” and wow I missed you, guys! Really, I was so happy to see Crystal Gems again and especially happy I was to see them living their happily ever after. Well… If they were only living their happily ever after there would be no plot for a movie more than an hour long. The situation is: Steven is sixteen now, he leaves the Diamonds and returns to Earth, a lot of gems live of Earth now and they build a small city for themselves near the Beach City, people and gems work and live together and then… (Spoilers!) Pink Diamond’s former friend comes on a huge spaceship to kill everybody and poison Earth (literally poison – her spacecraft is a giant syringe with poison). She hits all the original Cristal Gems including Steven with some special weapon – Rejuvenator – it doesn’t shatter the gem, but it stripes all their memories – they are “reborn” the way they were made: Steven almost loses his powers, Ruby and Sapphire don’t remember they love each other – Ruby just protects her, Amethyst acts like she doesn’t understand anything and just copies everybody and Pearl… Pearl accidentally starts serving Greg – she thinks his her host and it’s the most embarrassing thing I’ve seen this year. Spinel, who was also hit with the Rejuvenator by Steven, is also back and she also thinks that she’s Steven’s best friend and she’s going to play with him. Now. Steven (with the little of his powers left), Bismuth, Lapis and Peridot, Greg, and Spinel are trying to “replay” their experiences for the gems so that they get their memories (and their modern forms) back. First, they decided to make Ruby and Sapphire fuse, so, Steven tries to threaten Ruby so that Ruby will run into Sapphire as it was many years ago, but it doesn’t work as intended, but after all, because of Spinel’s spree Sapphire runs into Ruby and they fuse, but it doesn’t make Garnet remember anything. Then, Steven decides that if he sings and dances with Amethyst, she will get her memories back – and it suddenly works! After that sudden success they decide to bring Pearl back – they are trying to show her rebellion – a Rock concert by “Sadie Killer and the Suspects” – the group sings an awesome song about disobedience and Amethyst even takes form of Rose Quarts but id doesn’t work, so Steven has to take it in his own hands and make Pearl’s “owner” – Greg – disappear. He fuses with his father and the new character looks and sings amazingly. So, Pearl is back and she tells Steven, exhausted after fusion and soaring, that Spinel was Pink’s play-mate and Spinel thinking that Steven left her runs to the Pink Diamond’s garden and remembers that her Diamond left her for the new colony and told her to wait. And she waited. For six thousand years. Then she saw Steven’s message that he’s not going to be crowned as new Pink Diamond and decided to take her revenge. Steven takes Spinel back to Earth, she removes her Injector but then thinks that Steven was going to hit her with the Rejuvenator, so, she puts the Injector back, a local apocalypse in Beach City happens. Another fight starts, Garnet protects Steven, remembers about love and gets back to her modern self. Crystal gems went to the city to save people and Steven stays to fight Spinel and when she almost kills him he remembers that “his thing” is changing – so, he receives his powers back and fights Spinel more effectively but finally convinces her that they don’t have to fight at all and they reconcile. Then the Diamonds come because they wanted Steven to live with them and now want to live on Earth with him, but end up taking Spinel to the Home-world because they remind each other of Pink Diamond. Beach City is slowly rebuilt by people and gems. Happily Ever After happens again. The movie is amazing! The musical part (because it’s a real musical!) is overwhelming! The songs I liked the most are: “Disobedient”, “Independent Together” and “True Kinda Love”; I also liked: “Happily Ever After”, “Other Friends” and “Drift Away”. (Already downloaded soundtrack and listening to it on loop.) Sorry (not) for such a long post. Now, I’ll wait another year to watch “Steven Universe: Future”.
