European Nightjar

I have always hoped one day I would see a nightjar, they're such incredible birds and I've seen them... well heard them off in the distance churring away at Sherwood Forest and silhouetted high in the dusk sky. I never thought I'd see one up close but hoped maybe to see them clear in the distance.

The other day this stunning little guy was just napping in the middle of the day (jealous) on a fence post just on the side of the path literally 5 minutes from my house

I was very lucky to be back on the John Busby Seabird Drawing Course last week. It was an amazing opportunity to learn and experiment with drawing amongst a group of fantastic, talented artists and stunning birds and landscapes. It was an experience I will never forget, I met some wonderful people and have learnt a lot that I will carry forward to practice and improve my drawing. It was sad to see the physical impact birdflu is having on these magnificent creatures, in particular the Gannets who are so special, hopefully things will improve as measures are put in place to protect them.
