Sometimes I stare up at her, as impassive as the night, and I know what it must mean to be a wolf.

It is sometimes enough to watch from afar, awash in starry-eyed splendor.

Let me lay my head at your hearth once more. I would bask in the warmth of your fire, even if I could not stay come the morn.

Welcome to my garden. Stay a while if you'd like. Get lost in the tanglebloom pathways, the floragrown patches. Eat your fill of the fruits of my labor - they are yours for the taking. Forget yourself in the quiescent beauty of the night. Enjoy every moment. In the morning it may all be gone.

Fading fragility, simple solitude. A body made whole as a mind falls to pieces. What is freedom but another opportunity for failure? At least in chains, there are no expectations.

In the darkness, I wilt, an untended flower removed from your light.

I found myself lost once more to the endless vagaries of fate, a sailor stranded at sea by the fickleness of the wind.

Newly nurtured in the apotheotic cradle, I emerged as something wholly changed. In the pervasive light of the cosmic dawn, I held my soul and did not recognize it.

In the quiet monotony of the rain, I heard you. Your whispers echoed in the hollow space between each drop, tenuous and ephemeral, shattered anew with each inevitable impact. Broken into incomprehensibility though they were, your words soothed my seething soul.

The starry sky was scar-bright with a thousand thousand tiny holes in the fabric of the universe. I could feel all of it, everything, leaking out into whatever lay beyond. Draining our world hollow. And though the loss stung me, I could not help but wonder at the beauty that it would make on the other side.

Find me in the space between moments, that synaptic gap that exists wherever there is non-existence. I am that which cannot be, yet is. The friction between the should-have-been and was. Unbounded eternity.

Even the backdrop of the radiant dawn could not outshine your brightness. You were my beacon, the fire in the mountains, the last light in the darkness.

The sun played on my neck like the final sigh of summer. The ending of a thing, the beginning of another.

In the everglow of the witchlight, all falsities are stripped away. Truth is laid bare on the banks of that moor and the weight of it is more than most can handle.

Stone-wrought and clad in iron, the monolith rises like a lone sentry in that darkened place.

Tender as the moon, your gaze touches mine. Words pass unspoken, subtle as the night. And there in your eyes, a trillion trillion stars, coalesced infinity, an entire universe so rarely glimpsed.
