I love your art and I want to get into drawing. I would love to see how you draw heads, like how you did with hands. If you could make a tutorial on that I would be grateful, but obviously it's your choice. Thanks if you do! (Love your DBZ art btw, it's wonderful)
ive had a LOT of tutorial requests the past year- NONE of which i have been able to respond to due to my time availability >x
First! I just start with a simple circle, like so
from there I sketch on my basic generic human (or saiyan, in this case lol) eye lines, jaw, neck, rough torso, etc.
from here i add the details; the eyes, nose, hair, etc. all still rough at this point
anddd then i lower the opacity and draw a more refined sketch/lineart! and thats it!
i used to struggle with heads for a long time (at certain angles i still do lol) but this way has served me best, and ive tried a lot of ways. but everyone draws differently! so dont take this as a tried and true way to draw heads; this is just how ive practiced and grown accustomed to drawing heads.
my biggest tip is that dont feel like you have to adhere to the rough guidelines too much, theyre just guidelines
thats how i do it! just remember its ok to kind of struggle at first, you will, and thats normal. but you just have to find a way that works best for you! just like how everybody isnt built the same way, or peoples shoe sizes vary; arts the same! you just gotta find the shoe that fits you best! so keep drawing! you eventually find a system that works best for you!
i hope this was helpful a lil bit!

"Why am I so much more creative when I'm tired?"
This also translates into:
“Why am I so motivated when it’s really late?”
“The best time to make ideas is through sleep deprivation!”
“I want to do so much more right before bed and I don’t understand why!”
etc.
So basically when you stay up way too late it effects your problem solving ability and your ability to make decisions. [1]
Do you want to know a possible reason as to why that “I stayed up really late and now I feel so creative and willing to draw!” feeling happens? Because your self-critique center is shutting down because you’ve been awake for too long.
You are always as creative and able to do things as you were when you were awake. That potential doesn’t just disappear.
Difference is– when you’re wide awake you have a stronger problem-solving and decision-making center, which is obviously related to self-critique. Being tired doesn’t necessarily make you more creative and motivated, being tired forces you to quiet that part of yourself that holds you back.
Something to think about.
That makes a LOT of sense, thank you!

Hey Kiwi, do you have any tips on how to get good lineart? I was watching your humans of beach city speedpaint and your lineart is probably my favorite thing in that illustration
thanks!! i have three tips to make lineart look better:
make sure lines dont taper off at intersections (you can even make them a little thicker!)
vary line width (i make the outside edges the thickest, and lines are thicker in corners and places there would be a heavy shadow)
and change line color! (i like to make the very outer edge the darkest and the middle details the lightest)
