Riku is THE LIGHT

Many of you are aware of the Sleeping Realm Theory, and during our play through of Kingdom Hearts 3 for the channel (link) Shawn and I noticed this scene. Shawn specifically noticed this while editing. They really don’t hold back with straight up showing you how Riku is the Light.

Spoilers for our Let’s Play of Kingdom Hearts 3 below!

Aqua has just been saved and they are back on the Destiny Islands. Aqua, not realizing that she’s been saved yet, asks when Destiny Islands fell to Darkness (omg, you’re *killing* me, girl). *Riku* is the one to respond and tell her that she’s out of the Realm of Darkness.

The light source here is *behind* Riku. Then we cut to Aqua:

She’s blinded by light. Looking up where Riku is standing. There’s so much light the exposure goes WAY UP.

BUT THEN. AS IF THAT WEREN’T ENOUGH. WE THEN IMMEDIATELY GET THIS SHOT:

And the light is still coming from where Riku is standing just a few feet off to the right of Sora.

There’s just. So much. Proving that Riku is the Light. We hadn’t seen anyone else point this example out yet, so I wanted to make a post.

I can’t help but point out as well that even though Sora is the one to save Aqua, they CHOOSE to have Riku be the one to tell her this. They could have easily swapped Sora and Riku here and framed Sora as the return to the Realm of Light. But no, it’s Riku.

Riku is the Light.

The secret ending actually cracks me up a little bc of the difference in Sora and Riku's reaction to the situation. You have Riku who is in complete awe (big buildings! adventure!) meanwhile Sora is over there looking SO fucking tired of this shit rn (currently experiencing the consequences of his actions).

Do you have any KH ships you like outside of SoRiku?

There is definitely none that reach the level of soriku but there are some. I'm actually not a big shipper, at least not as much as usually people are. But, I'd say in terms of KH, xehaqus would be next in line of ones that I like. I also like lea/isa, aqua/terra, aqua/cinderella, namixi. But I don't really think about them that often to be honest, I just think they're nice.
