So much stuff gets left out on the curb. Wealthy college students tend to prioritize convenience over money, so instead of carefully reselling their perfectly good stuff, they frequently give it away or put it out with the trash because that's easier than moving, reselling, or donating. Take advantage of this.

I furnished pretty much my entire apartment from college giveaways and yardsales.

What I got for free:

Mattress and box springs

2 10 ft area rugs

The massive 9-drawer chest (that has a label on the back that it was custom-made and shipped across the country) that my TV sits on.

Two 13 x 2 ft raised garden beds

My desk - just sanded it down and refinished it.

Three short stools

Tommy Bahama outdoor cooler (retails for $350)

forgot to share this work in progress screenshot i took yesterday

#and yeah my sketch process is basically scribbling vague solid shapes and drawing lines over them lol #i should record myself drawing at some point and show u guys how strange the process is. but it WORKS. for me anyway #after many years of studying life drawing in and out of the classroom #it's just faster to get out a gesture and refine the details iteratively using progressively smaller eraser/pencil sizes #i don't have pen pressure on my tablet so this is how my line quality ends up looking varied. it's a natural result of the pencil/eraser #i only bring that up bc i've talked with other digital artist friends who assumed i use pen pressure to vary my line weight #and then i've had to say ''actually no i do it in the completely nonsensical way i made up'' #delete later
