Also, I saw another ask with something related to "He is more mature/confident because he had sex?" but I think that's exactly the point.

To me, Colin's character was built like this for the season: His travel across the continent seems to be more... extensive (?) (I'm not finding the word I want to say), like, for the spoilers, he brought gifts for his family for a lot of different places, and in S2 we don't hear about that many places, so I'm guessing he explored more this season.

That being said, he's a man who gained more experience with traveling, went to different places, met with different people, and tried to make these experiences into something that he can make his (such as importing his fashion senses). Colin is experimenting with different things and learning about himself. The thing is, much like someone new in the art of knowing himself, he thinks he figured it all out because he figured one thing out.

So Colin had sexual experiences and his traveling experience as a whole and now he thinks he figured it out, or at least, he uses it as a shield. He's on his way with everything else, he only needs to find a purpose now (but knowing himself isn't the first step? So he must be on his way, right?). But he isn't as cool as he thinks he is, he's actually lame (affectionately). And I think he'll only realize that when he figure out that his experiences were pointless. Not because they didn't matter or they didn't change him, but because those experiences weren't the final goal, they didn't make him what he expected to be, or gave him what he expected to have.

Once he falls in love with Penelope and have sex with her, I hope he'll see that he didn't know what he was doing. He thought he knew everything, but just not he realized that this has been missing. Love, her, whatever. But experiencing things because he should have these experiences to be out as a man in society didn't fulfill him as he thought it would, and now he's learning what fulfills him for real. Something like that.

I do hope, tho, that they'll make his purpose more than being with Penelope. I think it'd be cool if he approached it with this mindset, but Penelope has her purpose, and Colin isn't hers. He's part of it, but she has her own thing. And I really hope that if Colin can't figure himself out on his own, that he goes like 'I found my purpose now, and it's you' and Penelope gets like 'Oh. No, dear, you're getting it all wrong', so he can actually find himself in a relationship that is both of them + each of them as their own.

I'm not sure why anyone would be upset about Colin gaining experience when the whole point is him understanding why he's not as invested in that sort of thing because there's no emotional connection between him and his partners which in turn makes him examine his relationship with Penelope when he realizes how he feels about her. It's sex vs making love here and because he's yet to really be in love those experiences will pale in comparison to being with Penelope. That's the whole point. While some want Colin to be a virgin along with Penelope to gain that experience together, there's something to be said about Colin understanding he was doing it wrong hence why he felt nothing more than gratification, if that. He doesn't yet understand the act of making love because he's never been in it so he's merely sating a physical need. I would want him to have more practical knowledge than Penelope. The better to pleasure her with, you know?

I can’t speak for everyone but I’m not angry or anything over the choice of him being with other people before Penelope because, like you said, he probably doesn’t understand the difference between just purely sexual satisfaction and making love with some you cherish and care for. And we could be entirely wrong on this lol.

I personally wish we could see more tropes of teens/young adults falling in love and learning their sexual awakenings together. And I know the above and what I’m about to say isn’t the case with Polin, but I find a lot of the preferred romances to be a bit icky/a power imbalance with wanting someone who has so much experience being with someone who has none. It kind of gives me the ick anymore and that’s why I think it’d be nice to see something a bit different from time to time.

Again, not saying this is Polin at all or really any of the Bridgerton couples, it’s just something I’ve noticed within the genre as a whole that irks me.

Person A is not a kiss and tell kind of person, so their friends start to think that they have been alone for way too long now and set them up with Person B. What the friends don’t know is that they both already know each other – intimately.

It was supposed to be a one night stand. Then it became a second night. A third - and suddenly they realized that they had never left.

Person A normally does not go out to clubs. They normally don't accept drinks from strangers or dance with them. And they normally do not go home with them.

Remembering every last inch on Person B's body is not a weird thing, just because they only hooked up that one time. They had just been very thorough. And now the memories are haunting them. In the best way.

Person A's last one night stand ended with a misunderstanding and a lot of awkwardness. To cheer them up again, their friends set them up with a blind date. They meant well, it’s not their fault that it’s the person they had previously slept with.

Person A's friends are obsessed with setting them up with blind dates, and A knows they mean well, but they are just not interested in dating, so they just ask their last blind date, Person B, to fake date them, so A's friends stop setting them up.

Can you still call it a one night stand if they actually already had one years ago?

Person A had never had a one night stand before, so they don't know what the correct etiquette is. They are currently bringing breakfast to Person B, who is still in bed, because that's the polite thing to do, right?

What is the worst thing that can happen when you have someone in your bed that you just had an amazing night with? Your parents deciding to pay you a visit, who are just so excited to meet your new partner.

Person A and Person B are in a committed relationship and very happy. So happy that they decide adding a third person for just one night won't change anything.

Kinda need Colin to orchestrate meetings with Pen like Pen did last season, the scene in season two where Pen acts surprised at seeing Colin, I need that but I need Colin to do it and I need it to be SUPER awkward for him bc she's focused on something else (idc what, it can be lady Whistledown, her mother, debling) the idea of him nervously sipping a drink trying to get her attention is kinda funny to me. Always been a huge fan of flustered Colin and I'd love a bit of it in the show. Some of my favourite scenes in the book were moments like that; him getting mad and flustered by her thanking him for kissing her was something that made me bark with laughter when reading the book 😂

I've seen the spoilers! I told myself I could hold off, but alas, I am weak. I won't be sharing details here, but there is a link in the replies. I just want to give some general thoughts. Everything is of course subject to change after I've actually seen the episode.

I really like a lot of the choices they've made. Most things I thought would happen did, but there are some big swings that I wasn't totally expecting, at least not in the first episode. For someone whose been quite worried about how they would handle certain aspects of the show, I'm acually excited to see where it goes from here. There also seems to be an attempt at trying book motivations with show motivations in a way that I think is really clever. I will probably talk about that more once the episodes are out.

I do wonder if there are a couple of things that should have been established at the end of last season though, but it's not a dealbreaker by any means. The only real criticism thus far is that the timeline is so unbelievably nonsensical at this point. I know we already knew this, but it's really gotten out of hand. I think the show probably should have done- at the very least- a two year time jump.
